Making 10 a nice round number of foreign invites to Sasuke 35,which ten would you invite?
For me Drew and Jessie obviously are nailed on 1 and 2.
3 = Joe Marovsky
Think he has earned his shot
4 = Geoff Britten
Not allowed to compete in ANW10 I believe due to ties with the production company and I think he said he would be back for ANW11 anyway. But would be great to finally see him have his rightful attempt.
5 = Perry. Dedicated his life to the sport, travelling the world to the competitions, been in the NNL and Wolfpack tour and of course won NWNL1.
6 = Fred Dorrington for dling well on UK and going on to be joint LMS in Australia.
7 = that Swedish bloke, sorry mind has gone blank on his name but also a globe trotter and loves the sport.
8 = Sean McColl, legendary climber and done amazing at Usa v World. Really interested to see him take on stage 2.
9 = guess we need a UK representative... Not sure who though, maybe Kammy just as a laugh!
10 = a German or French, probably both but then we need 11 spots!

City Finals = Standard salmon ladder
Stage 2 = Double salmon ladder for me please. Sometimes if it aint broke then don't fix it.
Don't forget you are going straight into an upper body and grip strenght obstacle straight after these salmon ladders so just stick with the classics. They are legendary for good reason.

Seen this Question come up a ton lately, so I made an official Sasuke Table of Contents: I will keep this up to date, and can add any info people want. This is the barebones for now but I'll finish filling it in this week. Green rows are shows currently airing, or with a confirmed start date. Yellow rows are renewed, red are cancelled. White rows are currently unknown. It is currently sorted by Country, but I can change that easily. The excel sheet is excellent. Are you planning on updating it?

If you need help with records I have a list of every city finals run (except ANW 5) and every national finals run from ANW 1 to ANW 9. That would be really amazing mate thanks! At the moment we (me and my brother) have the domain, hosting and cms. I am just in the middle of getting some tools installed which will enable me to have extended athlete profiles and stats and I also plan on trying to work out all time world ninja rankings, etc. I know that Sasukepedia is pretty much the fountain of all ninja knowledge at the moment but that is pretty ugly and not very user friendly (and not dedicated) so the plan is to offer all that and much much more. A one stop shop for anything Sasuke/Ninja. A hell of a lot of work ahead but hopefully it will be epic!

Aah my bad. I get confused as I only discovered Ninja/Sasuke in February and have burned through 9 seasons of ANW, all the specials, NW NL, NW Aus, some NW UK, Sasuke, etc etc.
2017 has been one big blurr of ninja obsession that's taken over my life! Injured my wrists aiming too high before getting fit and I am busy building a ninja website to rival all the rest!

What are the ANW phrases, features, personalities etc that most annoy you? For me number 1 has got to be "redemption". Why can nobody have revenge on an obstacle? Why can nobody just have a bad season or have made a silly mistake or even just not have been strong enough? Why do we have to hear about somebodys bloody redemption every ten minutes? Number 2 irritation is the constant previews of what is coming up later or after the break. We probably get 10 minutes per episode of repeated material. We don't need that filler and would prefer to see a few more of the cut runs instead. Number 3 is the over emphasis on the sob stories. Number 4... I love Akbar but enough with the "I see you baby" please! I personally think Akbar is one of the best things to happen to ANW but that may be just me. Oh for sure he is. Look at the other spin offs and shows of a similar formula, or even the earlier seasons. You need that dynamic and Matt & Akbar are a dream team. Akbar just needs to lose that one phrase! As a Bradford City fan Kammy is a legend but the UK show needs a better dynamic, Aussie hosts were bland and NL also. The right hosts can make or break a show.

The people who complain about how bad ANW is. You're beating a dead horse dude. Despite all the flaws I still love it :-)

Looks like Rayl beat Dreschel. Rayl looks like a good prospect for ANW10. Are there vids of the tour on youtube? Edit: that was tour #1. V2 is next week apparently.

I mean, I'll admit I like the Invisible Ladder, but honestly it seems like a misstep putting an obstacle like that after 9 other obstacles is a bit OP, so I wouldn't mind it replacing a Salmon Ladder or being a Final Stage type thing, but as for final obstacle of a regional I honestly enjoy the Spider Climb even though it's easy AF The Spider Climb was easy but 5 still failed it. I think they should do half a Spider Climb and then a rope climb like in Team Ninja Warrior Half spider half rope would be my pick as well. Good traditional obstacle, tough but beatable. Even if it just gets one season so we can have another female finisher (all being well) and move on from the Kacy era for good.

Would like to see Paul Kasemir back. He has been doing Wolfpack, Team Ninja etc so still on the scene. Always liked him.
Would also like to see Geoff v Isaac 2.0
From the rest mentioned, Derek Nakamoto (if he still only sleeps 2 hours a day as claimed then he is probably not very well), Elet Hall.
And not mentioned yet, Jesse Villareal (looked like he had real potential) and if Kane & Shane still turn down Sasuke I would like to see them... They are not over the hill just yet.
Oh yeah and how can I forget Jon Stewart, one of my inspirations and still on the scene I believe.

Anyone with their ears to the ground heard anything about a second season?
I am busy training for season 3 (I am an overweight and unfit 43 year old so need a long time to get fit enough to tackle a course) so obviously we need a second season to have a 3rd season.
If the population is too small for it to be viable though I wonder if they have discussed Ninja Warrior BeNeLux instead. Perry and Matthijs vs Sean/Nicolas/Siebe would be something to look out for.
With ANW being shown non stop on Dutch telly it is a surprise that we haven't had a NL s2 announcement yet. Unless there is a channel change going on?
Fingers crossed anyway.

What is so bad with nw turkey? I don't know the nw turkey Long story short, production allowed the competitors unlimited tries so that production got whatever result they wanted. It's as simple as that. Ooh that sounds nasty. Did they show this on air?

I just bought the Zante v3 and the grip feels like glue. Sadly no ninja gym near me to test them properly. One can only hope (and wait) for ninja gyms to take off in this country. Guess the parkour gym will have to do, just need to get a little fitter before heading there as it is tough and I don't want to get injured.

I understand that the spin offs do not have the number and quality of athletes that Sasuke and ANW have. And I understand that the money is not there for a whole epic ANW sized series. But I do think there are a lot of improvements the spin offs need to make in order to get to the next level.
Ninja Warrior should be about the finals. The real 4 stages. I do not like only 15 competitors making the final for a start. 100 should be the number.
Stage 2 and 3 should be separated. By all means make them easier than Sasuke or ANW stage 2+3 but to a decent level. A good aim would be 30 reaching s2 and 10 reaching s3. Only an elite athlete reaching s4 but it should be doable if everything goes right for a top top competitor.
The heats are too tough with the limit on only 15 fastest the furthest. If they want to engage the audience I would perhaps just do 2 highlights programs from qualifying (all on same course) to cram in the best inspirational stories, the epic runs and the big fails. Top 200 through to the semis.
Then just straight into the semi finals. Say 4 semifiinals of 50 with top 25 going through.
2 episodes for stage 1 and then the grand final.
ANW has shown this sort of format works. They have tweaked it over the years so why do the spin offs try to reinvent the wheel?
Using the same kind of format the show can go on tweaking the level of difficulty to the standard of competitor. Hell the number of episodes can be fixed to how popular the show is. Some shoes could skip the heats and semis all together and jump straight into the finals. That is a tried and trusted formula as well!
Anyone feel the same?

I enjoyed AuNW but have a few gripes they need to sort out:
Qualifying is wrong, the times are based on when they fell rather than the time to complete the previous obstacle meaning you could be knocked out falling at the end of an obstacle by a slower competitor falling at the start of the same obstacle. Very poor planning.
Freddie is a legend but not right for this show. And the other 2 presenters could be better.
Stage 2... Well no more needs being said about that.
Roll on Season 2, with some tweaks it could be really good. Ninja Island is awesome.

Rather an old thread but having watched ANW backwards I only recently saw the Boot Camp specials and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really brought something different to the table that ANW seems to be missing these days. Don't get me wrong, I love ANW as much as Sasuke but the boot camp had something about it. I know the College Team Ninja Warior was a damp squib and the Japanese don't want too many Americans on Sasuke anymore but perhaps a by invite only boot camp of 12-20 internationsl ninjas fighting for 6-10 places at the Vegas finals might be something interesting? I know a couple of the UK guys, Perry from NL, a few of the Swedes etc would be up for that for sure.

Personally voted for Nagano and however much I like Drew, I don't think he sould be included in this list till he has won a competition. I would have added all the winners (Isaac, Geoff, Dave, Le, etc) to the list as only the winners have proven they can do it. Look at any sport and there are great athletes who never won the world cup, an olympic gold, a world title or a grand slam. Great athletes they may have been but you have to be able to go all the way. Drew for example could have won ANW9 but he made a silly mistake, he did not handle the pressure and expectations. Geoff on the other hand started his ANW career very late, could he have won more than once had he had more chance? Who knows, perhaps he would not have been ready even if he had started earlier.
If we include Drew then why can we not include somebody like Sean McColl? He is an absolute beast and a climbing legend and if he were to dedicate 5 years of his life to ANW then I think he could win it 2 or 3 times. I think he would have a decent chance of winning Sasuke 35 if he were invited (if the tackle didn't pump his legs out).
As for the debate over the difficulty of the courses, again I feel this is irrelevant. You can only beat what is put in front of you and that is what you train so hard for. Nagano, Yuuji etc did beat what was in front of them whilst hundreds came up short. Different eras, different training, different tools (a slightly better shoe, a slightly better diet, a slightly better training schedul can make ALL the difference between winning and coming up 1 meter or 1 obstacle short).
What excites me though going forward is the potential of a Sasuke / Ninja Warior World Championships in a few years time with the best current athletes from the dozens of incarnations all competing on a level playing field. I am not talking about ANW USA vs Japan / vs World format where the Americans have a huge advantage having experienced the obstacles a couple of days earlier. I am talking about a real World Championships with hundreds of competitors from all over the world. There are some decent Swedes out there for example, some Belgian climbers who are amazing and Pery as well as the 2nd place in Ninja NL have huge potential too.
Well how about that for a first post on this message board?
Hi folks, thanks for having me on board!
