So, in every sixth tournament, a competitor seems to get screwed by something really strange happening that robs them of a potential Kanzen. I know this is a really weird pattern, but hear me out.
SASUKE 6: Yamada falling off the Pipe Slider mat. SASUKE 12: Nagano missing the final buzzer cause of wind. SASUKE 18: Nagano's course out due to none of the producers thinking about the SCH's design. SASUKE 24: Kong's safety rope incident. SASUKE 30: The Spider Climb being really slippy, which possibly prevented Matachi from winning. SASUKE 36: Yūsuke not being able to grab the Tsuna Nobori thanks to wind moving it out of his reach.
I'm scared for SASUKE 42...

SASUKE 42: The tournament after Yusuke missed out on Total Victory by 0.01 seconds, he is set up to Kanzen, ready to make the jump to the Pipe Slider mat that he's succeeded at 5 times and only failed once all the way back in 29. However, despite the production team's much better efforts in waterproofing the course across all 4 stages, there was an oversight, the one part they forgot to tarp, the Pipe Slider mat. He swings his body and leaps forward, but his feet slide forward causing him to fall backwards and despite a few seconds of gripping onto the material upside down upside down trying to save it, his body flips over and his feet by the tiniest margin dangle down and touch the water. He climbs up and pulls himself atop the mat, disappointed, but still smiling, optimistic and with the greatest sportsmanship as usual.

Not gonna lie, in the least mean way possible (I like Yusuke, I promise), that would honestly be a great curveball, similar to how he failed Stage 1 in 37 but not spoiled by trailers. It would also add a degree of unpredictability to the Final Stage, which imo is what made 37 stand out among the more recent tournaments, it wasn't just Yusuke, Yusuke, Yusuke. I just hope for whatever reason that he isn't the Last Man Standing and that someone else actually does make it to the Final before him, because an unforeseen Stage 3 ending would just suck. Hopefully Yoshiyuki, he's got genuine Kanzen potential down the line.

It would and I mostly agree, but I'd only be on board if everyone had to deal with the wet Pipe Slider mat rather than just him, otherwise I'd be kinda upset.

Oh yeah for sure, especially given the amount of rotten luck Yusuke's had with weather generally. I'm surprised he's not asked not to get #100 for that reason alone, though I presume this isn't up for debate at this point.

I see it, but I also think there are other equally strange things in other tournaments. Still weird though!

We've also had a kanzen every 7 tournaments (17, 24, 31, 38).
