The Climb is a visually-arresting and life-changing adventure that represents the foundations of rock climbing and exploration of the human spirit. In this all-encompassing competition, amateur climbers are put through a rigorous series of mental and physical challenges, utilizing some of the most intimidating ascents in the world to crown the world’s best amateur climber with a prAna sponsored climbing career and a $100,000 cash prize. The series is created by Jason Momoa, through his production company On the Roam, legendary rock climber Chris Sharma, and The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), a part of Sony Pictures Television.
The Climb premieres Thursday January 12 on HBO Max. (Without getting too off-topic, HBO Max has been eliminating original content so if it is good, you might want to make sure to watch).
The trailer also mentions Meagan Martin.

Could they make the description sound a bit better? Sounds like they’re selling their show short…

Keep forgetting about this...
It was done in a sort of documentary style.
Great scenic views.
But it was otherwise kind of boring, and a lot of it ended up as background noise for me. I kept losing focus during the actual climbs.
Don't like how two of the episodes ended with cliffhangers (lol). All it does is make one episode shorter by a few minutes, and the next one longer a few minutes. Each pair of episodes would be around the same length without it.
It's cool that Jason Momoa is actually into climbing. He had hernia surgery just before so he couldn't do a lot climbing for the show.
It felt like the show didn't use Meagan enough.
I liked that everyone was supportive of each other. Except for the part where they piled on Deco for not going all the way when he was safe.
Apparently, Brad had food poisoning and was really sick for several days leading to his elimination. It was just presented as nerves and pressure.
Something they do with the editing that you'll notice quickly is that after the actual competition climbs, the competitors will repeat climbs so the producers can get footage from other camera angles to splice in.
I wish they didn't do that because it gives it a fake feeling when you know there was a camera in their face for one shot, then completely gone in the next wide angle shot.
I also learned that production blocked off at least one of those places just for the competition, and it's a popular destination.
I think it would be cool in future seasons if they didn't splice in fake shots and actually had camera crews visible everywhere like an actual competition, and allowed other climbers and tourists in the area to watch.
