So personal disagreements in management policy. Interesting as I assumed he was the sole founder of the company and thus could override stuff. Maybe he is and he's just stepping down because... no idea. Don't see why he would ever leave even if management had potentially better avenues planned ahead.
Also lol just realized Tomo's Instagram handle ends in 99. Not hatin', I like Tomo a lot.

Also lol just realized Tomo's Instagram handle ends in 99. Not hatin', I like Tomo a lot. I think he was, but I assume the company got investment which obviously would’ve brought new shareholders in which obviously get a stake. Not sure if this is what happened, but often investors tend to care about nothing but maximising profit, so in this case that might’ve been going to lower quality/cheaper supplies or going too commercial with branding or whatever, and that often clashes with the original founder’s vision for the company as they want to keep it authentic. Again, this is all just speculation, but I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. The only other situation in which ‘different directions’ is used is when someone gets fired, but I very much doubt that. Yeah I noticed the #99 lol. I wonder what his next step will be tbh, surely he’s not going to go back to truck driving after his career breakthrough. Defo something climbing related I’d assume. I also wonder the impact this will have on the way TBS treats him. He only really started getting hoards of screen time from 35 onwards and that’s when Per-Adra really took off so no doubt that had something to do with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts getting fast forwarded more/gets lower numbers, in the same way that Asaoka started getting the chop after he quit his teaching job so was no longer the Sasuke Sensei.

So the climbing gym isnt his anymore? That will make things interesting to see how they turn out in future.

It's a shame isn't it; he seemed really proud of the new gym, there were multiple videos about it on the TBS YouTube channel. Having to let go of something you've worked for years on and grew (not just the gym, the entire brand) must be incredibly tough. He’s unfollowed PerAdra’s official Instagram page and has removed it from his profile too.

makes me wonder how his performance will be affected. If it actually gets better, it'll be a worthwhile cut. Sorry he had to do it though...

I always thought the reason he threatened retirement after only two Stage 1 fails (which let’s be honest is pretty premature) was because his Sasuke passion was waning due to him spending all his time on Per-Adra with its expansion and the gym etc. There are only so many hours each day, and obviously if you run a business that has to come first; even if you still love Sasuke if you don’t have the time to train or perform at your best that naturally reduces your willingness to compete (unless you’re Shunsuke but different story). I mean in the last couple of years, we almost never saw him at any of the group training sessions. I also feel like prior to Per-Adra, similar to many of the blue collar guys who competed, he defined himself through Sasuke, then obviously he became the face of Per-Adra and that somewhat changed. With the former obviously no longer the case, he may want to reinvest his time and passion back into Sasuke as that was his secondary go-to. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he upped his training considerably due to the need to prove himself by other means than Per-Adra and also increased time. However while I definitely think he now has the capacity to do a lot better, the mental burden of the wall still stands so I wouldn’t be surprised if he failed it a fourth time, especially with his terrible tactic of taking 30 seconds to attempt the obstacle twice, not using the full run up, and trying to jump from a low position and obviously missing the mark. I do really badly want to see him back on Stage 3, I just don’t know if it’ll happen. The one thing that gives me a bit of confidence is how he was kinda close in 39 despite the wall being wet, so unless he jinxes himself like he did in 38, or god forbid fails even earlier on Stage 1, he should be in good stead.

Honestly, those last few runs I've been coining him... Casual. All because of that. He spends so much time hyping it up just to be well short of clearing the wall. Last time was an exception. It was wet, That can down ANYONE. Even Yusuke isn't immune.
