What number would you pick if you competed on Sasuke? I made this post a while ago but with new members on the forum and a different approach to the numbering system in recent tournaments I figured I’d check back in.
Personally I’d go with a number anywhere from the 70s to the early 90s. I’m going with 70s purely to guarantee that I wouldn’t have to be the first competitor to attempt Stage 3, in the event of any new modifications I wouldn’t want to have to be the guinea pig. Hioki and the Black Tigers usually get numbers in the 50s-60s and you can usually rely on them to reach Stage 3 so yeah. I said up to low 90s purely because unless you’re literally wearing 99-100 I don’t really see any added pressure, especially as random athletes who fail early in Stage 1 have been given similar numbers.
But yeah, I’d rather run later rather than earlier so I could get tips on obstacle techniques from competitors that ran before me etc.

#3977. 7 is my favorite number, and I also agree with your point that I'd want to see any potential new obstacles. I probably wouldn't clear them anyway, but, y'know. It'd be nice to not be the first to attempt them.

To be fair, #77 I think is one of only three numbers not in the 90s to have made the Final Stage more than once (the others being #72 and #49), so it's defo lucky lol.

#4000. Who wouldn't take the honor of being the 4000th contestant?

I would take #3949.
Although #3999 or #4000 would be honorable, I think the pressure associated with being the last 2 numbers would be too high to justify me taking those two if I was a SASUKE competitor.
Plus, #49 has been in the Final Stage on three separate occasions, only behind #100 in that regard.

#4000. Who wouldn't take the honor of being the 4000th contestant? Anyone who wouldn't want to s*** themselves on the start line in fear of underdelivering to the point that the number negatively affects their performances. This includes Yuuji and Ryo, both of whom were pressured by wearing #100, let alone #4000.... For some reason I like the number #71. It's been worn by Akiyama, Shingo, Takeda, Ryo, and loads of other strong competitors, and it's in that sweet spot of not being too low such that you'll be the guinea pig for new obstacles, but also not so high to warrant any pressure.

85, 72, or 20 (or in the case of SK40, numbers 3985, 3972, and 3920)
85 is the highest number i'd consider. And for the supersticious of us, it has been worn most notably by Hashimoto Kouji in SK24, and y'know...he did pretty good that tournament
The rest are numbers that I picked for sentimental reasons
72 was the jersey number I wore and 20 is my favorite number. I suppose the latter of which also helps in case the hypothetical forecast predicts some rain later on
Edit: Just looked this up and the other 2 numbers are really good picks...at least for those who are supersticious.
The best run by #72 was SASUKE Sensei in SK12 and the best run by #20 was Shingo in SK2

3905.
I have no illusions about my being anything other than Quad Steps/Rolling Log fodder, so I would go out as early as I can, where only Torisawa exists to set expectations for my soon to be spectacular failure, so with such a low seed, assuming that don't I end up all-cut in favour of some idol's fluff piece, my failure would be so unremarkable as to help salvage whatever amount of dignity the anonymity of it can.

3933. 3 is my favourite number and it wouldn't be too embarassing when I inevitably bite it on either the FIsh Bone or Dragon Glider if I'm lucky.

3901 if it doesn’t get assigned to Torisawa first!
I’m not the most athletic person (far from it in fact) and I don’t expect to clear the first stage, so why not have fun and be the very first to run the course?

I guess anywhere the producers felt I was suitable, which would probably be in the 40s. I see myself getting at best to the Dragon Glider. I don't really train very much and most of my success would be based on Kuboki'ing the course, which doesn't work as well without being athletic.

I'm not making a sex joke, 69 is a reference to my birthday, 6th of September, or I'd just go with 96, since Nagano, my favorite competitor has worn this number twice.
