Right now we might be having one of the worst courses ever (probably because its almost the same as it was 10 years ago), so i think it would be nice to return and maybe redesign old obstacles as it would be very cool to see how new competitors would deal with them.
I personally would like to see a harder version of Body Prop being introduced in next redesign. Planet Bridge was very underwhelming but maybe having 2 moving platforms then?
Another one that comes to mind is Metal Spin, it would be interesting to see if they could make some devastating combo by adding it after Backstream.

Honestly, I’d take anything at this point. As long as it’s a decently hard obstacle to replace any of the first three obstacles of Stage 1. I’m not going to repeat why for the 50th time but you know what I mean. Maybe the Rolling Escargot to replace the Silk Slider or the Step Slider/Rokudantobi into Pole Maze to replace the step/hill combo.
Stage 3 I’m fine with as it is, but I’d like to see some of the old obstacles from Sasuke 25 make a return. The Roulette Cylinder+Doorknob Grasper combo was brilliantly brutal, as well as the Floating Boards which only got one tournament despite being such a feared obstacle internationally. Hell, I’d even take the Ultimate Cliffhanger over the current direction that the Cliffhangers are going in. I’d also like to see the original Flying Bar come back as the final obstacle, if that counts.

If I can be in Masato Inui's spot, here are 3 obstacles I would return immediately for SASUKE 40, one for each stage:
1) As dakoosu said, the Flying Bar would be a nice obstacle, but the 3 bar version is just bland. What I would love to see is the classic 5 bar cradle as the Final Obstacle. Sure, the Pipe Slider has only been failed by two two-time Grand Champions, but the Flying Bar, in its international appeal, has been a staple as the last obstacle for nearly every single foreign adaptation.
2) For the First Stage, it really needs a revamp. Stage 1 has been just bland for nearly 10 years(SASUKE 28 was truly the last tough Stage 1 I can recall). Rather than the Ni Ren Soritatsu Kabe, I would have just the regular Soritatsu Kabe and have the Rope Ladder as the last obstacle. The Rope Ladder was a very underrated obstacle for nearly 10 tournaments, being the "Time Out obstacle" during its time.
3) And for the Second Stage, let's face it, the Backstream is a terrible obstacle. It's just a stupid gimmick for a time-waster obstacle for 12 tournaments. The Backstream would be removed and I would return an old classic in the Metal Spin. It's just a cult obstacle I can worship to this day. I would love to see Keitaro Yamamoto, Kenji Darvish, and Masashi Hioki fare on a Metal Spin/Reverse Conveyor/Wall Lift trio.

There aren't any old obstacles I wanted back at all honestly (I just want new ones or at least highly modified old ones if anything), but here's what I want removed if you don't mind me mentioning them in this thread:
Completely agree that the first three obstacles of Stage 1 need to go already. I also hate the double Warped Wall and want it to go back to how it was in 38. Having to watch the Tackle and the smaller wall back to back isn't enjoyable.
Stage 2 is pretty solid, but would be better had they not nerfed the log. I'd like to see the SL Nobori/Kudari swapped out for a new even more technical version.
Agreed again that on Stage 3 the Flying Bar needs to be put at the end at the same capacity as 25-26. I don't like the Sidewinder too much, but it's alright. I guess it's a decent strength sap, but it's straight up painful. Swing Edge is okay I guess. Don't like how it's just straight up technique and that's all it tests. Also looks like a head injury waiting to happen. CHD is ridiculous but there's really no going back at this point. They need to make sure the motors don't cheat competitors out of a potential clear like Sato. Vertical Limit Kai is a good obstacle. Pipe Slider is a husk of its former self.
Final Stage is probably A-OK.

Rolling Escargot is a good shout, I also we need a different first obstacle as steps overstayed their welcome long time ago. I would personally like to see long jump again or some safer version of Rope Glider.

In 2nd STAGE; there is Skywalk being one of the obstacles that not have ever attempts, only seen in the 19th tournament, also the removed of Backstream made the returned of this obstacle ever not attempts, perhaps will see it; if the producers need this in the new 2nd STAGE format.
In 3rd STAGE; the Vertical Limit is a terrible obstacle during most of it's appearance only Yūsuke Morimoto have ever cleared all versions, in my ideas will be Bar Glider before going Pipe Slider can be settings that only ever attempt on SASUKE 27, Body Prop or Arm Bike however also can re-added replacing Planet Bridge.

Chain See-saw from Sasuke 27, do I even need to explain this one?
Apart from that, honestly I don't mind if we would have Cross Slider returning, probably replace Silk Slider in the First Stage? That way we would see more joke competitors fail before they even attempt the Dragon Glider.

What if the Spider Flip was put in Stage 2 in place of the Salmon Ladder Nobori/Kudari? And they could just lower it if the height limit is an issue. Plus while traversing the underside of the second wall there's a risk of hitting the water (a la going under the Jump Hang). Personally that would be way more exciting to watch than the overstayed Nobori/Kudari.

Warning: The following ramblings assume, and only make sense in light of, a perfect world with infinite budget and a competitor base that makes Hioki seem decidedly average. Reader discretion highly advised.
For Stage 1, I would love to see the first 3 obstacles scrapped and replaced with the Twelve Timbers, Rolling Escargot (modified 26), and Circle Slider (17) respectively, as a great way of making the first half of the stage legitimately challenging again. Furthermore, as the obstacles each attack a different area of one's agility (TT rhythym and balance, RE endurance and whole-body athleticism, CS explosive bursts of lower body strength and good reflexes), the three would serve as a varied, and incredibly enternatining first half of the course, while at the same time being sufficiently brutal so as to wipe out all joke celebs fast enough so as to ensure that they can't digest Tada w/o risking an underrun (she said, sweet naïve fool in regards to fluff-pieces that she was). Also, if one wants to make a more compelling end to the stage than a second Warped Wall, IMO, having a support-rope-less Burandou take its place might make for an interesting choice, given that one's lower body would be shot, and the pressure from the time limit would certainly help to induce the same type of mental errors that even Miyake Ayako fell prey to, which would help grant the stage a new and entirely distinct way of failing at the last hurdle that's different from literally anything that came before in Sasuke proper.
For Stage 2, for me, a longer version of the Shin Era Balance Tank (ideally, with the rope having the length it did in S25 so as to put pay to any attempts to Shingo the obstacle) would be the perfect thing to put after the Backstream, as the whole-body nature of the two-and-a-half obstacles before it coupled with the water making wet giving the entire back half of the course a parasitic combo on par with the Rolling Log+SL at its start. In addition, I'll bend the rules of the exercise slightly to suggest that two Shin 2 era obstacles be brought back as a lethal combo: A Giant Swing that in lieu of a rope ladder or platform, leads one into a laché onto the full-fat Unstable Bridge from 23-27. The appeal of this one should be fairly self-evident, even if it is a bit extreme.
The Third Stage, beyond restoring the Flying Bar to its 25-26 glory (and possibly adding the 33 combo of cradles and wire if one wants to prevent a Final Stage attempt until they come up with a better first obstacle lol) replacing it with the Drum Hopper Kai and/or a stopperless Bar Glider immediately prior to the Sidewinder and putting the Chain See-Saw just before the relocated FB (ideally with the rope ladders before and after taking the place of the resting bars that traditionally come after the VLK and before the final obstacle) would be the perfect course refresh to go along with the change created by the relocation. Also, if one can bring back the actual Body Prop, or even introduce the curved version from ANW to help further drain one's stamina before the Swing Edge, Cliffhanger, and VLK sequence, that would be the best possible curveball to the current non-grip-strength-need-not-apply Third Stage, and a very good chaos obstacle as a result.
Lastly, for the Final Stage, bringing back the G-Rope is a must, but if that seems like too high a difficulty spike for some reason or another, I do wonder how the Ultimate Rope Climb might work if it were to be paired with an apertif such as the Lumberjack Climb, or Spider Climb and a time limit that isn't designed to facilitate a Kanzen for the duo; a 10m/20m split and 45(SW)/50-ish(LC) seconds could make for a very interesting tower, and if one can engineer it correctly, you can also try to have it split apart a la 5-17, and bring back the rope cutting tradition again for added spectacle.

Replace the stupid steps and just have sasuke 1-7 barrel climb
Then have spinning mushroom hang, like they had on Takeshi's castle hand hold on each side and it spins down a track double the lenth of the silk slider and you must time the landing on the platform like the rope slider.
Then a balance obstacle right after that.
Make dragon slider 1 bar.
Warped wall
Final climb of some sort.

Personally i dont see it as a stage 2 obstacle because of time limit as Spider Flip isnt an obstacle which should be timed Welcome to Australian Ninja Warrior Stage 2, they have done it in 2019 and 2021. While having to admit the 2021's Stage 2 is ridiculously brutal, the one in 2019 is more balanced with 135-second time limit, so I think it can work in SASUKE.

I know this doesn’t count, but I would kind of like to see the Sidewinder in Stage 2, directly following the Salmon Ladder.
I feel as though it would be legitimately challenging with the spinning poles and the crunch on time forcing competitors to jump on their first go, rather than what happened to Isa where he spent several minutes on the obstacle. Not to mention that it’d be really entertaining to see how competitors manage it following the Rolling Log.
I’d replace the entirety of the first two Stage 3 obstacles with the Roulette Cylinder into Doorknob Grasper.
Or, better yet, a Drum Hopper Kai straight into Body Prop with small foot walls in between to help you readjust yourself without allowing actual rest. I feel like a combo like this would be deadly in its own right, but obviously neither target grip so it would indirectly make the Cliffhanger and Vertical Limit potentially easier, without flat out nerfing either obstacle. Also, if it’s any consolation, Yusuke’s mentioned that he hates the Body Prop, so if this variant is hard enough, it could hopefully induce some more heterogeneity in terms of success on Stage 3.

Half-Pipe Attack for the first stage, then probably Metal Spin for the second. And then put Bar Glider to replace Pipe Slider.
Also, might be quite an unpopular argument here, but I prefer Ultimate Cliffhanger to other versions of the obstacle due to its size.

The latter part was what really ruined the obstacle in 27, as that’s 90% of the difficulty just taken away.

I think the Bar Glider should have had the upward part first than the straight part, that way they wouldn't have to pathetically nerf it just to make it possible.

To some degree, ANW's Stair Hopper would be a good successor to Bar Glider
