Who do you think could’ve broken the age record if it wasn’t for an unlucky run or an early retirement? This is a strong topic given that we’ve got several All-Stars competing in the upcoming Sasuke 38, all of whom are over the age of 44, an age beyond which no one has cleared Stage 1 and a record that’s stood the test of time back to when Sasuke records began (literally; it was set in Sasuke 1 and has remained unbeaten).
Some that stand out to me are: - Okuyama, who I’m certain would’ve easily been making it to Stages 2 and 3 into his late 40s if it wasn’t for his Cross Slider injury. - Hiromichi Sato: he cleared the KuroOvi course at age 49 which shows that he’s still athletic, despite how overrated he is arguably. If he’d stayed on Sasuke I’m sure he could’ve beaten the record. - Kongu: I think he would’ve had at least another Stage 1 or 2 run in him. Sure his stamina wasn’t what it was but he’s been an incredibly resilient and consistent competitor well into his late 30s and early 40s
For the upcoming Sasuke and future shows, I think Takeda or Nagano have a good chance of beating the record; Suzuki and Yuuji also if they can remain strong competitors for the next 2-3 years. Yamada isn’t even in question and Shingo I think has too much of a penchant for mental errors. I just don’t see him making it past the Dragon Glider.

No sorry, even if he had beaten the Warped Wall (which there’s no way he would’ve given how many times he failed there), he only had about 35 or so seconds left. He would’ve defo timed out on the Rope Ladder given his speed issues.

Ishimaru Kenjiro came darn close to beating Stage 1 in Sasuke 16 and 17. In both tournaments, he timed out on the Rope Climb at the age of 52.

Oh yeah I forgot about him. I wonder how he would've done in Stage 2.
He was no joke; I recently watched the Pro Sportsman 2005 Quick Muscle event and he did really well, only being beaten by Kinnikun, Iketani and Wakky, all of whom were like 20 years younger than him.

I feel like Lee En-Chi would've had a good chance given he didn't seem to show many signs of aging. If his SASUKE Vietnam 2 run is anything to go by he might've. Then again, speed was never his strongest attribute so this one's kind of debatable.

Yeah true Lee basically looks the same as he did in his Sasuke years and he's like 46 now. He's still in tip-top shape unlike a lot of other competitors at that age.
