This is probably going to cause arguments so get your popcorn....
What competitor do you dislike and for what reason?
I have three in particular that I don't like. Can you guess who they are?

Darvish Kenji, of course. Not really a great competitor but got too much spotlight. I still understand it because he is celebrity and that will helped to increase the rating, but getting high numbers? That is unacceptable. I will not fuming about him if he get maybe #60s or #70s, but when Hioki Masashi was always given below #80 *only once he get above that, and it was because of lottery back in SASUKE 25* and he always get numbers higher than that since he clear First Stage, that is just unacceptable.

I suppose giving celebrities higher numbers convinces people to watch for longer, I'm not really sure?
But yeah I 100% agree. I get giving celebrities numbers in the 80s, but Darvish never made it past the Second Stage and ended up getting 98 in SASUKE 36. Speaking of 36, his Stage 3 run lasted about 20 seconds but it got elongated to like 10 minutes, they showed his fail like 5 times; it's almost a joke how much screen time he gets, celebrity or not.
Hioki gets low numbers in an attempt to spread out the clears; if no one in the first 80-90 competitors clears then people will get bored and switch to something else. As to why they chose Hioki in particular, I don't know, but they also do that with the Black Tigers as well.
The three I never liked were: - Darvish, surprise surprise. I don't think I'm alone here, clearly..... - Hiromichi Sato for similar reasons to Darvish, except his personality wasn't as annoying and he didn't get nearly as much screen time, only the stupidly high numbers like 99 in Sasuke 19.... - Levi: the guy always struck me as super arrogant and his reactions looked really fake.

Hmm, I don't really know. Matachi is a bit arrogant. Yamada is Yamada. And Kanno was a bit too egotistical at times. ABC-Z and Snowman I don't dislike too much, and I actually think they care about the show and other competitors, but I might be in the minority that actually likes Darvish and thinks that he has a lot of genuine passion for Sasuke. I especially liked his energy and dynamic with the other guy (forget his name). They were extremely funny together. I get Darvish gets too much TV time, but other than that I like him actually.

I especially liked his energy and dynamic with the other guy (forget his name). They were extremely funny together. I get Darvish gets too much TV time, but other than that I like him actually. I wouldn't say Matachi is necessarily arrogant, but I have heard that he's quite a cold character, especially towards people he doesn't know and foreign competitors. He's defo not the same upbeat and excitable young superfan that he was from SASUKE 27-30. I feel like from 31 onwards he became far more serious a character, and apparently didn't care as much for Sasuke as he once did, explanatory of his First Stage fail streak. But I guess that comes with age. Yamada on one hand I respect his devotion to the show, but at the same time it drove him to be incredibly selfish and have poor sportsmanship, such as his SASUKE 12 fail, and apparently he claimed Yuuji used 'illegal' shoes in his Sasuke 24 final stage run. I definitely have started to like him more as the coach for the Black Tigers, as he's far less egotistical and downright obsessed than he was when he competed in his hayday. Darvish granted has well integrated himself into the Sasuke crew and practices regularly so I don't doubt his passion for the show. I just think he's overhyped and gets too high numbers for his actual ability, which I felt annoyed me more than Darvish himself. Speaking of Darvish, is that his real name? It's a Persian name. Asa also used to annoy me a little bit here and there with his shouting and screaming, but I felt like in his later tournaments he toned it down and he really started to grow on me. Shame he doesn't compete anymore now though.

For America, Kacy. She isn't Jessie. Jessie is excited to see success while Kacy just kept interrupting things. A lot of people complained about that if memory serves and SASUKE 32 suffers because of it. Both Hiromichi and Yukio are arrogant... For the former... You gotta hate being digested (Shunsuke, Kenji... multiple others) only to show this clown failing long jump.

Yes, I know, that is why I said, if he get maybe #60s or #70s, that will be OK. But currently, since he clear First Stage for the first time, he never get lower than #80, which is disgusting because that decision had to sacrifice Hioki, who always get below that *his highest beside #92 in SASUKE 25 was #73, SASUKE 29 if I wasn't mistaken* even though he did well. That spot might better given to Suzuki Yusuke or even Yamamoto Keitaro as both of them seems always pressured by their high numbers. I more like the current tournaments because they finally give Hioki #60 and #71 in last three tournaments, which he absolutely deserved it, rather than being in #31 or #45 *helped by the rise of Black Tigers too* between SASUKE 31-34. As for Black Tigers, now that is the one I agree. They should be in #40s and #50s range, not higher *unless one of them suddenly reach Final Stage, he ought to be given #80s*.

Oh yeah I did hear about the Kacy thing; apparently she was just insanely loud and annoying the entire time, especially during Brent's run. Jessie seems far more humble and she actually seems to make an effort with the Japanese competitors which I really respect. To be fair with Hiromichi he got high numbers because he did well on VIKING as I understand, but I mean, VIKING isn't Sasuke.... I'm sure Wakky is also going to come up as well, but I personally don't dislike him because he's actually pretty funny as a comedian. His personality isn't as droll as Hiromichi, and not as downright irritating sometimes as Darvish (his crying after his SASUKE 36 run was either fake or way overdone lol)

I guess if Hioki was given in the 90s, he'd fall in that sort of Drew, Sato, Nagasaki etc. where he just gets digested constantly. I'm excited to see what the Black Tigers achieve in SASUKE 38. They keep changing though, but hopefully based on the previous tournament they keep Yamamoto and Isa as they did well; I feel like Yamada just replaces them once they fail Stage 1.....

For me, the least favourite challengers would obviously have to be none other than the celebrities for reasons.
Mainly because, on my country's broadcast when they aired competitions from 28 to beyond, they were all completely erased out probably due to the broadcast not being licensed to show them as their companies have IP.
As a result of this, I personally agree with you tns8597 about Darvish getting too much screen-time as well as high numbers because I just find that to be very annoying, mainly as he is never shown on my television.
Just because of his celebrity status and fame means he has to get high numbers these days, and as much as I want him to get a lower number in the next tournament, I unfortunately think he'll get a top number again because when Hiromichi wore #98 in 23 unexpectedly slipped on the Jumping Spider, he still received #97 in the following tournament.
I also dislike the 37 Navi, as they were showing more celebrities than normal challengers, when they really should have shown more Morimoto Sedai challengers like Keitaro and also Tada, who made it to the Final Stage last time as he has now become a top-level guy.
In the next Navi, I definitely hope to see cherry boy and possibly even Rene, if he is able to compete as that would be appreciated.

She did try to learn to speak Japanese *although with horrible accent, but understandable. I remember she said Kawaii in SASUKE 37 when asked about the obstacles, and being corrected to said it properly*, try to have conversation with fellow competitors *especially with Oshima, just love their friendship!*, and, of course, what made her had clear advantage over Kacy: Clearing First Stage.

It's a good thing they cut Kacy's run in that case.
Yeah Jessie is one of the few competitors I felt got a lot of screen time but actually deserved it, because she's literally the strongest female competitor both on ANW (first woman to ever make it to Stage 2 in Vegas) and Sasuke (only one to ever make it to Stage 3, and to clear Stage 1 twice). She kicks a**.
Speaking of ANW, I know this is the wrong thread but I don't like Isaac Calidero either. Super arrogant and always tries to hide the fact that Geoff was actually the first American Ninja Warrior to claim the title for himself, then just left his friends after winning. Seems like a bit of a d***chebag to me.

For me its Hiromichi Sato - I can't stand that smarmy entertainer personality he has/puts on at all. Like I feel physical discomfort whenever he appears on screen.
Unlike Darvish, who has actually engaged with the show and the competitors from pretty much day dot, I never felt that Sato was that fussed about it. Controversial opinion but I actually quite like Darvish (although I do agree he gets too much screen time and the constant greetin when he loses is annoying, but he's The Celeb for Ratings, whatcha gonna do)
I feel a bit mean disliking Sato as much as I do, because he hasn't actually done anything to earn my ire but I just, cannot stand him at all xD He turned up in a Sentai show I was watching as a side character but I didn't recognise him immediately because he had a fake beard on, and when it came off I spent rather too long yelling at my computer in raw surprise...

This is true, but we've also got other celebrities like Wataru Mori etc who don't get as much credit despite being very nearly as strong, and also being passionate for the show. Sato I think being an entertainment personality is just generally very cheesy and annoying.

I feel like the group of people who like Darvish has grown considerably over the past few years, especially as his results have gotten better, which ironically has coincided with Golden Bomber becoming less popular from what I gather from what a friend told me a wee way back.
Woohoo to this post as it is my first on the forums in a while.
