There's a lot of debate as to what's marked as a "spoiler" and what isn't, so lemme break down how I think we should handle "spoilers".
Anything released by NBC (promo runs, commercials, tv spots etc.) is NOT a spoiler. If it's officially released by them, it's a sneak peek that they WANT the audiences to see. Don't complain about spoilers when it's an official/released run.
Now, say you don't want to watch the sneak peeks? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think what everyone should do is just say whose run was released and then link the run IN SPOILER TAGS. This way people will have the option to either watch the run early or just wait until the episode airs.
For example:
Here's Adam Rayl's Stage 1 run for those interested.
Next up: hinting. OH MY GOSH THE HINTING. There are a lot of people that are saying "there's an epic save" or "well out the five stage 3 competitors in recent years x amount of people beat stage whatever" and it honestly needs to stop. Unless they're directly asking for it, stop dropping implications. Ninja Warrior is an obstacle course TV show, not some twisty ABC soap opera where you won't know what's coming next. You say one thing, the other person can basically figure out what in the entire episode. If you wanna say something about the show on a thread, either ask if anyone wants the info DMed to them or just say it with a bunch of warnings/spoiler tags. Don't be implying things to ruin suspense for people who might not wanna come into an episode expecting anything.
Next: theorizing. There have been a lot of "theories" that were by the numbers or dead on with the results of Vegas this year. Guys, you're not being slick. Imagine people re-reading prediction threads and realizing you basically spoiled the season in what you thought was a smooth move. Just don't do it. This is also where I seem to be seeing a lot of implications/hints that affect the predictions and it gets really obvious what happens on the show after that.
Obviously NBC is releasing too much in their promos. I was so mad when they released Jessie Graff's run and it spoiled Geoff Britten's results. When Mathis ran in OKC Qualifying, it literally spoiled the entire episode leading up to his run. It obviously sucks. However, if one promo spoils a BUNCH of other runs, either take it as I described in my first post and use spoiler tags or just let it be. There's nothing we can do about it besides not ruin it for the people who are deciding to wait for the episodes.
I think this is the most obvious, but THE LEAKS. WHY. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!??!? They need to stop. Everything about the alts, the posts, and telling other people we HAVE the results, leading to more people knowing about SMF. Guys, people joining SMF is great, but this could get us in serious trouble and shut down. I just joined a year ago or so and have been loving it the entire time. If people mess it up, there's no SMF, and the big thing is that means we all have to find other ways to watch Sasuke and/or Kunoichi. It's not exactly the easiest thing to find. In fact, when I looked, it lead me to SMF. So DON'T MESS IT UP BY RUINING IT!
I'm not moderation. I'm not in charge. It doesn't feel like this is my place to share my opinion on how I think spoilers should be handled, but Sasuke/Ninja Warrior has been a MAJOR part of my life for 15/18 years of my life now and I don't want to lose good things like this. I hope you appreciate the thought, and if any of you guys wanna discuss this stuff with me, just quote me. I'm more than down to chat semantics with you guys.
Much appreciation,
