Don't they have testers run the entirety of each stage in order to confirm it's possible? I get stage 3 is hard, but I feel like they shouldn't nerf the difficulty if that's the case. Competitors will get better, and eventually someone will pass it. I understand testers in this situation aren't combated with the same fatigue of running previous stages, or hanging around the course for two days, but each stage is possible based on that merit.

I think they've only had serious rock climbers attempt only that combo, and they've barely been able to beat it.

Ryo attempted it last year.

Does anyone know if Ryo even passed it? Also, IIRC different testers do different obstacles, so they wouldn't be fatigued from doing everything else before the UCCH+VLK combo (which I'd imagine is a big factor in being able to clear the whole stage). Also, the idea of only 1 or 2 people being remotely able to clear Stage 3 isn't very exciting either, which is another reason I think they need to tone it down slightly. With the course as hard as it is right now, some people's body types won't allow them to clear no matter how much training they do.

Ryo is 1/2 on the Cliff iirc and no they don't do the whole thing for the 3rd stage. When I was there for 32 you had a Japanese pro climber doing the UCC/VL combo and that's it. Someone else did the obstacles before and another obstacles after. To my knowledge no one cleared it in 34 (meaning Ryo cleared it in 33 but not in 34)? Some discussion was going on about the ledge for the Vertical being too slick (different paint than anything else on that stage) that is causing issues. I know everyone trains on verticals at home so it's not the ledge. Would make sense that the polish is what is causing the issue but I have no way of confirming that.

Nothing will beat Nagano's jump in 11. Such grace, complemented by that classic commentator.

Wonder if they'd ever let Takeda try the final stage. Probably not, but I'd kill to have it happen, even though it would had been better 10 years ago...

I'm not sure if this is known yet, but I'd just like to point out that TBS has also uploaded both Tomohiro Kawaguchi and Yusuke Morimoto's full runs (with subtitles) to their Facebook page, as they did with Drew and Jessie.
