I was wondering where exactly the name Mount Midoryama came from? I thought it had something to do with the location of SASUKE 2 and onwards, but I'm not 100%. Can someone explain? I tried searching for a thread discussing this, but i found nothing.

Yep, the competitions are filmed at Midoryama Studios and when G4 became affiliated they came up with the name 'Mt. Midoryama' for the Final Stage, but it's used for the whole of the Vegas Finals these days. I know you've probably read it 1,000 times, but the name translates to Mt. Green Mountain, so good job G4 Can't believe it's still used as they've gotten rid of all the other ties to Sasuke, really. Most viewers these days probably have no clue why it's called that too!

It's Midoriyama studios in Yokohama Japan thats partially why but the Mount Midoriyama part I define as the Final stage being the Mountain itself.

Didn't they call it that from ANW 3 (ssk 26) onwards to distance themselves from the Japanese show? I'm sorry but calling the Vegas lot the same name as what they referred to Sasuke is just so f8cking stupid.

For what it's worth, in SASUKE Vietnam Season 1, the Final Stage is called Mt. Midori , but in SASUKE Vietnam Season 2 and 3, the Final Stage is called Mt. Midoriyama

No! I appreciate it still being referenced but think about how many people will be confused not knowing that it's Japanese and with that being the only remaining Sasuke reference. Obviously the show should start referencing Sasuke and that'll solve all problems

I would also like to point out that SASUKE do have official t-shirts that say Mt. Midoriyama, and Inui has called it that before.

I would also like to point out that SASUKE do have official t-shirts that say Mt. Midoriyama, and Inui has called it that before. To be fair he says it ironically because they all think it's moronic that they screwed up the name. The official name of the course in Japan has always been the steel castle. Never in Japan's history have they called Sasuke Mt Midoriyama. Some G4 person came up with the name when they screwed up the translation ("Midori" means Green and "Yama" means mountain) because they never realized that the course was already named the Steel Castle. As a side note Midoriyama is the district in which the satellite office of TBS sits on. It's no different than a district in Tokyo or anything like that. As an example Brooklyn in New York City or Manayunk in Philadelphia or Mount Holly in New Jersey (which I'd laugh if they referred that to Mount Mount Holly since Mount is already in the name.. ahahahahah ehem..). They are all subsections of the larger city that are used as voting districts. So yeah.. I've been asked many many times why on earth anyone named the whole course after the district the show tapes instead of the steel castle since it already had a name. It's not like G4 ever had correct translations anyway so it was par for the course in terms of erroneous information. As for it showing up on shirts, TBS international uses it to have it tied to the much larger franchise that is ANW now. Inui has nothing to do with it and since people who started with Ninja Warrior with ANW and never understood where the mistranslated came from they just use that as reference. ANW is Ninja Warrior now so Sasuke ironically is riding on ANW's coattails.. including using the wrong name as reference points. Kinda sad but not surprising given their position now.

Yeah, I kinda figured that was the reason for it. Some law of linguistics says that when a wrong way of calling a thing becomes popular, it becomes right, even if it's suppose to be wrong G4's terrible translation became the norm when it was spread around the world
