Remember Ushio Higuchi? You should considering he created Sasuke. Unfortunately, Higuchi hasn't been involved with Sasuke since Sasuke 27. We haven't heard much from him, until now. Few people noticed that in July, Higuchi announced a brand new show call KuroOvi, a show that seeks to find the ultimate hero. Not much is completely known about the show yet but we do have some ideas as the official KuroOvi YouTube videos have been posting video previews such as these: Twisted Wall: Board & Pipe Crossing: In addition, KuroOvi created a trial course in YouTube Space Tokyo to probably give us a better idea of what the main show is going to be. The course itself has some interesting ideas. The trial videos also have some interesting competitors. Surprisingly, the videos contain English subtitles and English commentary. Hey this guy looks familar... If you're interested in possibly competing on the show, well you're in luck. KuroOvi is accepting applications from everyone around the world, as long as you can travel to the filming location on one of the filming dates. They even have an English language application. So if you want to be on the show, check out the official website. OFFICIAL WEBSITEYouTube channel with more videosTWITTERFacebookInstagramThere's a lot unknown at the moment, including how is this thing is going to air. So what do you guys think? Does Higuchi have another hit on his hands?

Gotta admit, this looks very interesting; I'm hoping the main show has a better announcer, however.

Yeah.. we've been watching this from the sidelines. It's obviously known to everyone in Japan because it's just "omg.. Higuchi is back".. LOL For those of us who knew how huge of a shadow this man cast.. to see him now it's really earth shattering. The fact that he's doing YouTube and not broadcast television is interesting. It's completely bilingual (English/Japanese) and open to everyone. Higuchi has always had a fascination with the international market. So on that front I'm reaaaaaaaaaally intrigued. On the other.. you can imagine the bad blood between him and TBS. As a quick primer Higuchi created Banzuke which spawned Sasuke which in the middle of that production he created Monster 9, did Viking for Fuji Television, created Muscle Musical, licensed Viking to ESPN, Licensed Sasuke to G4TV then the whole empire burned to the ground after Sasuke 27. So yeah.
I was SHOCKED (actually I wasn't but still I was taken aback because it was so brazen) to see Kong do a video for him AND naming Sasuke along with it. I'm sure somewhere in TBS/Inui land they are rolling their eyes. LOL Oooooh I'm so happy to be retired. I get to sit back and pass popcorn.

Hey, if Sasuke refuses to allow more than 2 gaijins in, I'll be more than happy to do a show for Higuchi.

Season 1 of this thing is starting in September with the application closing later this month (which is in about a week). Big problem is the whole traveling to Japan thing. One cool thing is them mentioning that there is a free shuttle bus from the airport so that should help who want to fly to this and stay near airport which is cheaper than Tokyo. It's an open application. I have no idea what NBC will do with this but I'm sure it will seal the fate of anyone dreaming of Sasuke fair warning. That said I'm interested if anyone we know would go to this. It's basically a variation of NNL from what they are showing.

Obviously, I still want to be on Sasuke but it's clear with the current people in charge it is impossible for me to get on.

I'm told that they hope for it to be a traveling show.. curious where they might go if this actually takes off.

Ooooh man. Kong is on it? Wonder what that means for his Sasuke future. IMO obviously but I think Kong was there because he's friendly with Higuchi (very few people still are) and the worst that TBS will do is what.. cut him from the show? He's a vet and over the age of 40 and he doesn't give a crap. LOL TBH he's untouchable since TBS has never ever had his back. How many controversies were there with Kong where he never was given a break? So while I was surprised when I saw it, I shouldn't have been given Kong's history. If they cut him he'll just shrug it off. He's given almost 20 years of his life to Sasuke and more than half of it was because of Higuchi. I think he got his allegiances right. The Shin Sedai don't have that luxury. That said.. Kong's the man. I love him. ♥

I applied. Late. And with zero effort.
We'll see if they are desperate enough to accept me.

Heads up for some reason I can't see said tweet so... [EDIT] Well ok when I replied to you it showed up so... I should have realized the reference to Hiromichi immediately. I wasn't too sure.

Got an email back. Dunno if that means I'm in or not.
My hesitation for not joining was that I'm lazy and I don't like moving. I prefer my weekends to spend my time as a useless blob and sit in my chair all day. Also narita airport is soooooooo far and annoying to get to, and expensive.

Woah, this looks pretty good, I would love to see this become as popular as SASUKE, considering that he created it.

Go Bada! ♥ I want to see how they did this from our perspective. There's the NEXT Line you can take that is actually pretty nice and you don't have to deal with traffic and I'm told there's a shuttle from the airport you can take that is free.

Yeah, I know my options. Lord knows how many times I've been through Narita at this point... it's just a trek, and I'm lazy... lol. I almost flat out wasn't going to do it because of the insane cost it takes just getting to the airport, but my pass apparently gets me a massive discount because it was way cheaper than normal when I did it 2 weeks ago. Would be cool if people like Kong end up competing. Still haven't really met many big name Sasuke people. Biggest names I've met are all members of this forum.

Kong won't be there and leave it at that. As an aside.. reach out to them on social media and let them know you are there. Offer lunch or something. Most are pretty cool if you extend the effort to meet them somewhere close to where they work. Worked for me when I met Yuuji.

They want me there at 7:30. Good lord that's early. I'll barely make it considering trains don't start until 5 AM.
