Let's say you were put in Inui's shoes. You just finished taping SASUKE 32. Now it's time to edit it. But with Corporate problems and your fourth of a budget, how would you edit it to still please the fans? Would you do it way differently than how Inui edited it, or would you make a few changes to what Inui cut and showed?

Healthy mix of fan favorites and concentrate on adequately representing the First Stage. If someone clears SHOW THEIR RUNS. There were only 8 of them (unlike previous years when we had 20+). Fluff pieces keep in Navi like in other years except for Nagano's. Move Nagano's Navi fluff piece to his run. It will be the last time they can do that. Americans show their Sasuke performances. Drew back to back 3rd stage Sasuke. No need to pimp ANW. He has a great Sasuke record. Brent. Same thing. Bring back his 2 Sasuke performances and say he wants revenge. They love that kind of stuff and relates to the audience that he had a connection with Japan. Edit down the comedian's screentime. They are worth showing but not dominate the airwaves. Honestly.. I would have edited Stage 2 the same especially since 2 guys were injured during Stage 2 and the rest was a joke.. it was better to do what they did. The whole thing was botched. 3rd stage show the runs if they got to the end of the course (notably for Jun) - if you got to the UCCH.. show that. Take out the commercials for other shows - notably the ads for other shows like the celebrity drama's they were pimping. I doubt that is possible but there is a way to trim that down.
TLDR: Concentrate on the Japanese audience. Cut out irrelevant ANW footage since you can just use recent Sasuke tournaments and what they did since last year. Focus on Nagano since it is his last tournament and Morimoto is not here. The main focus should have been that in the First Stage. Third Stage should have been Jun and Drew and end it with that since that is after all the future of the show.

I would give Andre Sihm and Jun Sato some screentime...as well as more women, especially Kacy in the main broadcast and Texan in Tokyo (because she's kinda famous LOL) but would give Nagano a long fluff piece and show his farewell ceremony. Would keep Stage 2 the way it is because it was boring anyways Also would tone down the hype the "celebrities" get they're overhyped!

They may get too much screentime, but they're not overhyped. You'd be surprised how many people will tune in to only see one or two people and TBS. We wouldn't be whining about this if it was Kane instead of ABC - Z guy or Darvish. I haven't followed ANW at all this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if the advertising of more famous competitors (i.e. Kacy, Geoff) got that episode higher ratings. SMF is not the target audience. Just like how comic book super hero movies (Iron Man, Avengers, Thor, Captain America) aren't targeted for the comic book fans.

Tomo was in a chair for a reason. He got his foot caught when he was slip sliding away on the conveyor belt. I *think* Andre was the other one. Trying to remember. Something about the conveyor was causing issues immediately after the backstream. Not sure if it was the metal or the belt itself.. I didn't get a good look. Most people were bitching about the timer being so high people could walk through the course and still clear. LOL Tomo had his interview on the steps of the 2nd stage because he couldn't walk on it for a while and we didn't even know if he was even going to do the 3rd stage. He was looked at by the docs and he said that most of the 3rd stage is arms so he wanted to tough it out.

Damn, that sucks, hopefully they're healing up now, wouldn't be surprised if the Reverse Conveyor or the Backstream get axed for 33 considering the dangerous combination they turned out to be, or at the very least have the order swapped...

Kawaguchi probably could've injured himself further on the Sidewinder since it uses a lot of leg work.

I'd bring back consistent unique competitor themes. I'm sure the licensing for the music used to cost a pretty penny for M9 to use, but even I, who doesn't watch WWE or any other wrestling type event, knows that having competitor themes is one of the easiest ways to crank the hype up to 11.

M9 didn't pay for it up front. They were sued for copyright infringement and caused their fall from grace when the judgement went through. So while I wish there was more variety with music themes I see why they are more careful with their music choices. It bankrupted their previous production company.

Darn! It was one of my favorite things about the old show. Ah well. I'm happy they at least got to keep the All-Stars' themes.

And that's why you don't get physical media of the tournaments. Too expensive to pay the music copyright lawyers.

For the task at hand, I'd do what arsenette was saying, making sure that it's a good bit of equal time shared for both the celebs and the "normal" athletes (basically the All Stars, Shin Sedai et. all), give more time available for the women participants (especially with Kacy's run being as good as it was), and especially, give a true moment for Nagano for his final run.
Stage 2, keep the edit they did since that was a "meh" stage 2.
Stage 3, if it could've been done, would've had all of the runs shown.
That's at least me for the edits.

More showing of the foreigners, showing the Yamada Corps more, putting the footage of Kyan and Darvish at the same time so they won't make a separate footage when the other guy runs.
And more women too. Also show notable runs of the rookies and show all the runs that finishes the stage fully, not digested or cut.
(note : the last part might be hard on airtime, since it might take around 4-5 minutes per competitor, per stage run, since it includes the introduction videos and post-finish interviews too)

Show every run on YouTube after the broadcast...even the cut ones.

I don't want to rehash everything wrong with Sasuke 32, so I'll focus on things they can do in future broadcasts.
Putting full, unedited runs on YouTube would be a great first step to take. USA gymnastics does this with major competitions and they have single playlists with 100s of full routines. Heck, they could monetize the videos and no one would complain if it would allow them the see every competitor.
In regards to the broadcast, I think it would be very possible to show at least a glimpse of all 100 first stage runs in order. The runs of Sasuke stars and celebrities would all be shown mostly in full regardless of outcome, any clears would be shown as completely as possible, and the "average" competitor failing on the "average obstacle" would be shown in a montage of multiple fails, but would still get airtime and would still be shown in exact competitor order. The more interesting runs with a huge wipe out or a close time out could be shown in full or could be edited to show the last 20-30 seconds of the run.
