Could people post pics so we can all see them? I thought the point of the boards was so we can discuss it without having to fish around the internet to find them all. Sorry, I'm still getting to know this interface, and I have no clue how to add Instagram posts. But lets try this anyway. I can only figure out how to add photos by adding atachments so I guess I'll just post three at a time. View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentThanks! I found out that from my phone I can text add both instagram and twitter pics. Type out [ instagram url=" put the full url here" ] (without the space ONLY in the url. There is a space between instagram and url. For Twitter it's the same thing. twitter url="httpstuff" all inside of brackets []

The slider obstacle is this one from TNW Denmark. Couldn't tell how far apart those gaps were, but it looks like they're wide enough that most people will get caught in them.

Saw Natalie Duran on crutches at the Las Vegas screening, probably something she picked up on TNW. Sprained ankle

During the Ninja Warrior marathon right now, the little promo pop-up in the corner says Team Ninja Warrior returns this Fall.

I hope they have more obstacle variety. By the later rounds the same obstacles were getting REALLY boring to watch. Agreed. Seeing the log grip, swing jump, dancing stones over and over was boring.

So, I'm curious how you would propose changing the format to work better. I mean, I get that the first round could seem useless, but I felt it was to try and (in theory at least) determine the two stronger teams. I suppose there could be a round robin type of scoring system for the rounds instead of two teams competing. So, what would you like to see changed (other than the format a little)? This is what I would do.
1 point for each obstacle completed 2 points for winning heat on the course (no buzzer) 3 points for winning the heat by completing course first (buzzer)
Points are earned by ninjas for each completed obstacle regardless of whether they win the heat. Points are tallied for each team, The team with the most points after the 3rd heat is the winner of the match. There are no sudden death run offs. The team that wins the most heats wins the round. The winner of the first round match runs against the loser of the second match and vice versa. The two teams with the most points after the second round proceed to the relay.
Tie breaking hierarchy after two rounds: Most matches won Most heats won (including buzzers) Most buzzers Most obstacles cleared Head to head run-off (no points awarded)
Points are awarded in the relay in the same manner as in the qualifying matches. These points are added to the team’s total. The winner of the relay proceeds to the finals regardless of the number of points at the end of the episode. At the end of the season the total points are used to determine the wildcards (if any) and seeding in the finals.

The scoring above would have changed the teams that went to the relay in the 1st and 3rd episodes of Team Ninja Warrior College Madness. As they were run. In the first episode Houston and TCU would have faced off, eliminating Georgia from the upcoming final. In the third episode Colorado would have moved on the relay in place of USC.
The changes in who advances is based on how the teams ran the heats under the current rules. The scores after the two rounds in each episode would most like would have been different in each episode due to what I think is the main benefit of the scoring system. It encourages the Ninjas to run as far as they can regardless of whether the heat is won of lost from their perspective. Completing the course even if you win the heat at the second obstacle would be important, as those points may be needed in the future heats or to get the team to the relay. The same is true if the competitor has already hit the buzzer at the end.
The other big benefit, it would diminish the affect of one excellent runner such as Legg on Georgia. Without the Captain's/Anchor heat counting double and then the potential for a sudden death run off. Each individual heat is more important.
Since the winners of the second round matches don't automatically move on to the relay, both rounds are important.

Overall this college edition was ok but not great
With a whole new load of competitors we don't know, there wasn't really any investment and with them all wearing generic outfits it all became a bit of a blur, it's not like the course was that exciting.
I guess the idea was to find a few new stars. The MIT guy with glasses was impressive and deserves a run on ANW proper and Taylor Armann deserves a run just because of her hotness (and she's quite good).
