Is it bad I find it funny how much it's seriously like how he really is? Going way too far over an obsession to the point of abandoning job and family for it, stuck in the past, it's just so Yamada

You know, it's no surprise Yamada turned to acting, given his natural talent for it. He's been acting like a competent SASUKE competitor for years.

00:00 - 00:05 is where he is now. 00:05 - 00:16 is how it all started. 00:16 - 00:38 is where his obsession with fame was taking him. and the rest is what happened after he had sold his soul for fame.
Also, the girl in the video looks like Yuka Murofushi (though I doubt it's actually her).

Yamada should be a soccer player. He'd make a great diver!

View AttachmentPlot twist: Yamada gets a job as jobber, he goes around acting like he's on World Heavyweight Champion level despite never winning matches And then he'd either fake injuries during the matches or mention he had them after he got beat.

It's just good to see he actually does stuff with his time haha. But I don't think he was ever an incompetent competitor, just far too slow...

If I saw this ad, I would definitely use their search engine or whatever it was promoting. The whole idea is just so oddball, it works.

Rider saying what we all thought as we watched the commercial. Ironic or not, I found it to be hilarious.

So Yamada is now the face of wifi in Japan... that's big. Tbh, I think Shingo would be more effective.

Yamada has never left the public spotlight in Japan. He's been a staple for over 20 years. That's what I've been saying this whole time and THIS is the image everyone in Japan has of him. The commercial wouldn't be effective if you didn't already expect it from him.

I mean, c'mon, you can't seriously believe that he doesn't realise what the Japanese see him as after 20 years. They can't force him to do the ad, after all. This way, the company gets their ad, he gets paid and airtime on television, and we and the Japanese get a hilarious commercial. A win, win. No harm, no foul.

This was more in reference to those who idolize him and believed the image that G4 presented of him. He's nothing like that. Hell.. his alienation of his own family is now a "joke" to him and worthy of making money off. That's really sad to be known as a failure of a husband and father. If you consider a win win situation being considered the butt of every joke and someone to be avoided then by all means.

If you consider a win win situation being considered the butt of every joke and someone to be avoided then by all means. Yeah I guess the father/husband bit was pretty bad... But I suppose it has been a long time since it began. No doubt, behind closed doors and in the family, agreements have been made, battle lines have been drawn and necessary talks were had years ago. I highly doubt the wounds on anyone involved are still fresh. Plus i'm sure the BT provide some semblance of comradeship. But like you once said, he's a non-celeb that got hit with the limelight bug. He'll never change, so if he wants to do these kinds of ads, I suppose he'll do them. Hell, I thinl the ad is actually pretty good. It was intended to be funny, unlike that stupid car one. It could mean progress, as if Yamada is so willing to let himself be parodied, he may have started to care less about his self image.
