Over their entire time on Sasuke? I've gone for Glory. Yes, there have been some incredibly gut wrenching fails, some due to injuries, some not, but I still get a buzz from rewatching their runs despite having seen them countless times before.
I only wish Takeda could finally reach the final stage after all these attempts.

Way back when it was glorious to see them run the show. Now a days that baton was passed to the New stars. Now they're there just to be there and to please long time fans. I say it was a story of Glory now turned to rest. BTW Takeda's spider flip fail was NOT in SASUKE 22 (He had a jumping spider fail then). It was both 23 and 24

I think that it is a bit mixed. Nagano is a good glory story. Shingo and Takeda are glory stories of perseverance and passion.
Yamada is a tragedy story, proving that even if you try your hardest, you aren't guaranteed to 'accomplish your dream' or even come close

How about neither. They were who they were and they were good performers back in the day, but now they've grown old and it hasn't been as easy for them. Their glory days are over and that's the way it is.
The only one who was a tragedy IMO was Akiyama. He won, but could never keep up his success because of his eyes and only really kept competing to make his fans happy and meet the other all-stars. I guess most wouldn't really find this as a tragedy story because he DID win, while Yamada never won, but honestly I don't see Yamada's story as a tragedy, I see it more as a glory seeking psycho hound eventually getting put in his place.

I happen to think other competitors have more compelling stories that would fit your tragedy/glory requirements so I'm in the neither category as well. Every competitor has some measure of both so isolating the All-Stars as above everything else is kinda missing the point of the show. The show is 18 years long and the All-stars were only a part of it. Considering that only 4 men managed to win in 18 years prove that more people in that 3100 attempts, there's an obscene amount of tragic stories.

It's just the All-Stars were once the favourites to win, and they (mostly Nagano) carried the show for so long. Think about it. Six people, all capable at some point of achieving total victory (Nagano up to 5 times) and only two manage. For me they are the ultimate representation of how tough and unforgiving the course is...

They were a representative for a while but haven't been for 5 years now. They have since been replaced by another set of people for these past 5 years and 4 years before the All-stars were put together when the show was first canceled when Kosugi left. So no I don't see their story as a whole as fitting into the boxes of glory or tragedy which is why I chose neither but it wasn't on the poll so I didn't vote since my answer wasn't there. The entire show is filled with more people representatives of those small titles.

You're right in saying that competing for a few tournaments and then quitting like so many have, would give a more definitive answer to the question
