Which Kazenseiha underdog story did you prefer? Both competitors had gone through long journeys to achieve total victory.
I personally really liked that promo that aired before Morimoto's final stage run. It showed him spider walking as a child and how he truly, even moreso than Yuuji, grew up with this show. I just wish his win had a bit more fanfare like Nagano's.

Definitely Morimoto, he started competing at only 15 years old and over the years he trained more and more until he eventually reached his goal.

Ooh, that's a tough one. I remember rooting for Yuuji to win in after 22, but then again Morimoto started competing before Yuuji (granted Yuuji had been trying to get on SASUKE since SASUKE 11, without success until 21 might I add.) so we got to know him longer.
By a slim hair. Yuuji, simply because I favor him.

I'm sure SRW will agree with me on this one but Nagano was far more of an underdog than these two. They were both hyper fans from the beginning and had all this obstacle training.
Nagano was just some fisherman, failed the wall twice, then gets to the end of stage 3 and earns Yamada's respect the very next tournament.

Definitely Morimoto. So many people counted him out while Yuuji we knew it was a matter of time after we saw him in the final and just fail it before. Some thought Yuusuke would get to the final and fail.. but to get to the final and clear was a wonderful surprise.

Morimoto mainly for that *censored*ing epic promo video before he won.

Morimoto. He's still very young, and has already achieved so much in general. Not to mention he has definitely surprised A LOT of people with his brilliant performances, myself included. I think people overlook him when comparing his personality to other competitors, but this kid I think could eventually go down as the best Sasuke competitor of all time if you ask me.

Morimoto was my pick. As awesome as it was to see Yuuji win (twice), Morimoto's dedication to SASUKE surpasses a lot of other competitors. IIRC from arsenette's interview with him, he's been watching SASUKE since he was only 7 years old, and since then has spent so much time putting passion in hopes of one day achieving what many viewers have probably just seen as a fantasy (competing, and even more so pressing the button at the top of the Final Stage). Although I couldn't understand anything they were saying in the video before his victory in the Final Stage, it was still clear that it exemplifies his passion for SASUKE. As it's been said before, in a sense his kanzenseiha sends the message that anyone can succeed if they pursue their dreams. I bet his family and friends would have never expected him to win after seeing him fail the Jumping Spider in SASUKE 18, but his continued efforts have shown them that he could do it.

Even though Yuuji is in my top 5, I have to give props to Morimoto for being so young and proving hard work and dedication works wonders. Yuuji I expected to win after SASUKE 22 and no surprise he did in 24. Morimoto even though he was close in 29, I was half expecting him to get to the finals and tragically fall short in the clutch. Thankfully that didn't happen!

Morimoto for sure it was just perfection!
I wouldn't really call Nagano's win a underdog story he too was really just a matter of time after seeing SASUKE 12 IMO. I'd rank the wins though.
Nagano Morimoto Yuuji 24 Akiyama

Honest Answer when you were there that night did you think he was going to beat the final and win or just come up short like Ryo did or something?

SASUKE 24 bored me to tears. At least the Final Stage of "Which of these five men is going to beat SASUKE" was cool. I honestly thought there would be more than one champion and for the continuity of SASUKE I'm very glad there wasn't. Nevertheless Yuuji winning was a nice surprise but after 22 it was seemingly only a matter of time. Yusuke obliterating the Final Stage in front of bleachers of fans was awesome.

I called Morimoto and Tomo in the final before the tournament started. Tomo almost made it and well you know what happened with Morimoto. Once I saw how easy Yuusuke was moving through stage 3 I knew he was going to the final. I was nervous but I had confidence he was going to win. That said.. the realization of all of that happening still made me cry. 18 years with only 4 clears is no joke so even if I "thought" he was going to win.. converting it to a win is a wholly different thing.

Idk why but I seemed like one of few people who just couldn't see Ryo beating it this time.

Akiyama is still IMO the ultimate underdog of Sasuke. Considering his eye condition and how determined he was to overcome it, and the fact that he would end up becoming the first grand champion in the most awesome fashion (literally clawing his way onto the final platform in stage 3 and refusing to give up, and then owning the final stage on his first and only attempt) seals it for me.

I knew he would struggle on the Wall Lift or Tackle and time up.

Akiyama is great. Though I prefer the long form tales of these two super fans of the show who tried for years to just get a shot and they both eventually clawed their way to victory. Akiyama was only there for a few years before he finally made it. But he is definitely underappreciated. Even though Sasuke was a cake walk back then, that final he beat is still no joke, and he destroyed it.

Well to be fair the question on the poll on this thread is between Yuuji and Morimoto. I'm still going with Morimoto for this question even though alltime I have as Akiyama (and not just as a champion but as an underdog story). I know now that part of the image problems TBS had with Yuuji was partially TBS being.. well.. TBS.. and partially Yuuji expecting to have garnered the same level of respect as Nagano without understanding that Nagano didn't actively seek that attention. Morimoto's personality is closer to Nagano's in the sense that he doesn't care what others think of him and that's not why he was in the show in the first place so that ultimately skews people's perception. I am still a Yuuji fan (especially since he's really done a huge change) but Morimoto has always been one of my favorites. Heck I actively sought him to do an interview and was happy he was so close to Tada. It's probably the reason why I was crying like a baby when Yuusuke won. I don't think I would have with Yuuji. I know I didn't in 24 or 27. I swear if Tomo wins I'll also be crying like a baby.
