I realize we're still 48 hours out, but here's a thread to discuss your year and any new years resolutions you have.
I'll start
For me, 2014 has probably been the best year of my life - at least from a standpoint of highlights. I was a tester in St. Louis for ANW6 which was a cool experience (though not as cool as competing). During Spring Break I took a trip with my family down to Orlando Florida and experienced Disney World, still one of my favorite places to go. In the meantime my parents adopted 4 kids which brings my sibling total to 8. In the summer I took a trip with my friends to Los Angeles California where we stayed for the better part of a week and attended Anime Expo - the largest Anime Convention in America. It was our second time going and it was a great experience.
In mid July I left America for the first time and headed to Hong Kong for two weeks. Those two weeks were literally life changing and it was one of the best experiences of my life. While there, I primarily taught English for a school, but I got to see a lot of old friends and make dozens more. This trip has changed my focus, and I will now be attempting to teach in HK full time by the Summer of 2016. In the first week of August I left Hong Kong and on my way back to America I stopped in Tokyo Japan for a week. It's of course been a life long dream of mine to go to Japan, and it was amazing. Though HK was such a great experience that it may have sullied Japan a little, but it was still great. It was also neat to travel completely alone for the first time and in a country where virtually no one spoke a word of English. I rounded out the year with some great parties, great concerts, conventions, out of state travels/family visits, and overall great memories. Though this year was punctuated with a very stressful school semester and my overall daily quality of life was somewhat mundane due to school work and my part time job.
I don't expect 2015 to surpass 2014, but I have big plans in store already. A resolution? Not sure if I have any aside from continuing to cut back on soda (which I am starting to succeed at). In July I will be returning to Hong Kong for the FULL month. In August I will be visiting Taiwan for the first 2 weeks. This year will also mark my graduation from college. After that I will be taking a course to earn my TEFL certification and then hitting the overseas job market looking for teacher positions.
