My personal favorite part was the crowd's reaction to the obstacles. I was blessed with a great audience. They were alert and participatory the whole time. And yes having a room full of ANW fans seeing Sasuke Rising obstacles for the very first time: Priceless.

Just got around to watching this. Is it true that Shingo is actually responsible for Sasuke still being around after what happened in Sasuke 8 and 27? That's incredible.

Yeah that is a story I didn't know about. Inui was quite open about that because the Banzuke incident (which happened on his watch.. he was director for that episode) shook up everyone. Yamada and Shingo both got Sasuke out of Banzuke and out on it's own since the ratings were so good for Sasuke by itself. For 28, that was all Shingo convincing him to come back since Inui outright refused a couple times to come back.

My goodness I'm gonna let him know thank you so much for saving the show that made me start loving Japan so much more!

Shingo saved the day twice... Now I have even more respect for him. Yeah he wanted to compete in SASUKE 29 as a normal competitor so as to not have the immediate pressure of being a SASUKE all star. I guess he wants to earn it again but do it at his own pace. THat's my guess.

Great presentation arsenette, just watched it . I never knew Shingo (and Yamada) had so much to do with rescuing Sasuke.
Also suprised me just how few in your audience had seen any of the recent tournaments post G4. Makes me happy that I found this forum when I did otherwise I'd probably have missed out on them as well (seeing as the Challenge TV who air/aired it in the UK are pretty much in the same boat as other countries )

It was a great panel; however, I think you probably should've been a bit more basic in what you discussed. By your own admission, a lot of people in the room didn't even know what Sasuke was. I'd wager some weren't even familiar with the all-stars - so bringing up things like Kane Kosugi, the UNCL, etc probably went a bit over their heads. Obviously you had an agenda in wanting to say some things out loud (Kane being american, etc) but I wonder how many people even knew who Kane was.
Obviously you were constrained to an hour, so how much can you realistically cover? Anyway that's just my thoughts - good panel for casual Sasuke fans or people who would frequent SMF, but perhaps a bit too advanced for the typical ANW crowd. Of course I don't exactly know the composition of the audience, but I'm just speaking based on what you've said.

Oh yeah I need to simplify it. However, most of the room knew who the All-stars were.. hell... Nagano almost got a standing O and I didn't even have to say who he was. They just saw a picture! I have a lot of fine tuning to do with it and hopefully will get better photos for the earlier stuff. I still have time for that as it won't be until next year unless something else comes up.

It felt like a good amount of the people there have at least seen Ninja Warrior on G4. It's just clear that once G4 stopped airing new episodes, people stopped watching, hence why so few had seen 28, 29, and 30.

Finally got around to watching this and I want to tell you good job on it. I do agree with what bada saying about it being not as much a beginners course, it was definitely a good learning tip but I do feel like a ton of it felt more like what was going on along the side of it, still a good job. You should totally do another at next year's Otakon though

Invited again to do a panel at this year's AnimeNext. I'll be applying for it this weekend. What stuff should I focus on based on my experience last year? I have my thoughts on it just wanted to hear what you guys think.

Maybe focus on the competitors? How they differ from the American competitors most everyone else usually sees. and maybe just the differences between the Japanese course and the American one? Just a thought.

Just a thought. Outside of nationality changes and the fact that TBS has All-Stars it's dangerous to start comparing people from each without turning into a witch hunt.

I was going to ask if this is going to be pre-31 or post-31, but regardless of that answer (the whole share your experience there bit), you'd have a NDA.

Last year was the same issue where it took place before the official airing in Japan. The most I can do is have some obstacle discussion or something. I'd ask first though if it's kosher to do so. I never talk about results anyway even though I've always been spoiled for the past few years.

I was only thinking just talking about the jobs most of the Japanese have and how overlooked they may seem

No worries. I am asking for an additional half hour so I won't be rushing through the end like I did last year. Also, I will be tightening up the early part and concentrating on the 4 tourneys that the USA missed. I got more "omg" voices from the new stuff so I'll do that. There's plenty of things in the 3 tourneys alone that the USA missed without having to go bonkers on the most recent. As far as they are concerned.. its' all spoilers past Sasuke 27. I'll do more videos and clips to show the current iteration of Sasuke now that most people will most likely be coming in as ANW virgins into this panel (like last year).
