A lot of time on Shingo and little to none on Nagano and Takeda. Maybe he did pretty well?

I honestly think they were concentrating on the qualifying part to ASEAN Cup and Shingo went to trials. They had little to none actual footage of interviews though so that might have contributed to a lot. They didn't travel out of the Tokyo area to get these interviews...

I'm happy Mika Watanabe (Izumi) made it to the JHK.

I think Asa lives in Osaka or at least in the area, and they did that section on Yamada's crew who all live in the Kansai area too, so they definitely traveled out of Tokyo.
They may have focused on Shingo because he was at the trials, but wasn't Takeda at the trials too? I hope the focus on Shingo was because he did well. According to his facebook updates, he's really pushing himself at the gym now which at least implies that he may be going to the ASEAN cup.
Is it just me (maybe just the editing), or does the back stream look like it's much harder than before? One of the guys they showed got pushed completely back and had to give up.

Looks like they added a stronger current to the backstream essentially making it a lap pool... if that's the case then weaker swimmers will not know how to deal with the current (like me.....).
Navi felt weird today. 8 minutes of stock footage before we saw anything of note. I know why they didn't go to Nagano's and Takeda has been elusive lately so maybe he didn't want the attention. Still though I'm sorta happy because they are still there but a much lower profile. Shingo was a surprise (a HAPPY one) given how usually he's usually 2nd fiddle to Nagano. He seems to be front and center now. Only took 16 years for TBS to get their head out of their collective arses to figure out how popular he is.. Aahahahahahah so yeah I'm really hoping he is going honestly.
I expected to see more of the New Generation though so I wasn't too surprised about them going to see Asa. I was for Yamada but given he has a few in the wings then that's one way of him getting airtime. For his sake I hope they did well. He doesn't have a track record for training though so I'm not hopeful.

To be honest, I don't think I would want Yamada as my Sasuke trainer. If I was ask to train with an all star, I'd probably choose to train with Shiratori because he also did the super set stuff, he trained himself up from being fairly weak rather than starting strong, and he has a much higher success rate and seems like an overall nicer guy. He should really think of training people up but I think he likes it out of the spotlight.
I forgot to mention that the CCH clear was in full HD for the show, but that is just a face I can't recognize at all.

Actually I just did a lot of rewinding on my recorder thing, and the guy looks an awful lot like Hioki. The hairstyle and hair color even matches. He's even wearing a black shirt in his picture...

My kingdom for your HD recording LOL No worries I was hoping they showed more of trials though. I'm curious if there will be more saved up for the rest of the year now that we know ASEAN is a full go. I assume we'll have a Navi for that as well possibly showing the trials? Or maybe on their Youtube page? One can hope.

I think the guy struggling in the Backstream is Yuuya Kadono.

I think we all know that I definitely want to see more stuff on the trials because I want something to show my elementary school kids. Fingers crossed for my run on youtube haha.

LOL Ask Inui I'm sure he can come up with something since we know you won't be in the main broadcast. Tell him exactly that (to show the kids you were there for more support for your Sasuke 30 trials). The worst that happens is that he ignores it

Is there a non twitter way of asking? I think this is a fairly personal request that shouldn't be done super publicly.

He has a Facebook. Outside of that I don't know. He follows me on Twitter so I send DM's that way but not sure the frequency in which he follows people.

I was surprised by the segment for Morimoto. Hopefully he did pretty well. At the same time, however, it raises my concerns for a few other competitors... I was also happy to recognize quite a few songs in the Navi. Perhaps this means that they'll still continue to include songs in future SASUKE broadcasts other than the 12 made specifically for it. Lastly, the competitor who tried holding on to the Hedgehog all the way around answered my question about whether or not that would be possible.

Yams get out of my head.. I was curious if you CAN hang on to the poles on the hedgehog and work your way around it back to the top.. LOL I figured she'd drop like a sack of potatoes and she didn't fail me Navi was incredibly short this time though so I wouldn't exactly freak out yet about the competitors. We also have little to no celebs this time around which will be interesting. The heavy focus on ASEAN though is proving to be interesting. I wonder if they will dedicate part of the broadcast to just the qualies showing the Japanese team (which is why that crying Yuuji video is there and the Japanese flag at the end of that first stage)?

We can't go by what people are wearing in their photos because they would have changed their clothes at least once between the 1st and 3rd Stages due to the Back Stream.

I liked the Navi and big big thanks to the other mods for doing a great job with the stream and recording.
Sad that Kobayashi failed the JHK but excited to see how everyone else will do. Really interesting that they featured Morimoto so he most likely did very well.

Given how crazy the back stream was, I wonder how many people opted to just go shirtless for stage 2. I definitely wouldn't want to go Yamada style through Sasuke, but a t-shirt would cause super drag in that thing. Heck just swimming with trunks compared to proper tight swimsuits makes a huge difference. Best to wear a swim suit under everything and strip before you get in haha.

Be careful with that last strategy though, don't want a mix of the Yamada Tape Incident or Okitani Motsuhiro's pants fail
