I was going to ask this a while ago, but I thought it would've been answered by now. Since I don't think it ever explicitly has been on here, here it is: Who were those two randoms guys (#56 and #85) who cleared Stage 1 but failed the DSL in Stage 2? Were they guys who qualified for the tournament via the Sasuke 27 Trials, or random people who were miraculously able to get that far?

I am guessing random people.

I think #56 went through the Sasuke 27 Trials because #51 - #63 were pretty much all from qualifiers..

I think they must have made M9 angry because their combined air time was like, 10 seconds.
Also, I was surprised that they didn't put more focus on Morimoto. I would think they'd harken back to his early attempts or at least remind us who he was.

Well yeah, he did make it on twice while he was 15 but his best result was the HPA before 27, was he really that notable? Although I guess it was notable that he cleared 19's Jumping Spider

I just figured that they would have at least showed his second stage run. It would've be pretty exciting for fans of the show to see the person that was just a 15 year old kid clear the DSL + UB combo and almost make it to the Third Stage. I see why Ryouma was digested, but Morimoto at least had a (not controversial) past with SASUKE. Unfortunate that so many were DD'ed this tournament, but I guess that's what happens with so many clears.

I meant he was 15 in 19 when he failed the HPA, I forget if he was 14 or 15 in 18 when he failed the JS. If I recall he was 19 in 27 And speaking of who these people are, Who the hell was that american in stage 3? I know David and Ryan and Paul but who the hell was that other guy

Yeah and why the hell was he happy when Kouji failed?! What a jerk! James has gone on record saying that the TBS editing made him look that way. The timing between the shots were totally different. He was smiling because he was giddy to be in stage 3.. not because he saw someone fail.
