i cant believe im saying this, but on lap 13, turn 2 at the world championships in las vegas, dan wheldon has passed away. with the guy winning at daytona this year, it is so sad. from fox sports:LAS VEGAS (AP) British IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon has died from injuries after his car went sailing through the air during a massive 15-car wreck early in Sunday's Las Vegas Indy 300. Wheldon was 33. Drivers were told of Wheldon's death in a meeting about two hours after the fiery, smoky crash that many drivers said was the worst they had ever seen. Wheldon won the Indianapolis 500 twice, including this year. Wheldon was injured when his car flew over another during the wreck on Lap 13. and on my youtube: i would just like to pray and reflect on dan wheldon, who died in las vegas during an indycar crash. the guy was amazing and i wish i could bring him back. he is in my prayers and lap 13 will always be an unlucky lap. one emotion shall be shown right now.

This is a very sad day indeed. IndyCar will definitely be making some changes now.
Also, they did a 5 lap tribute to Wheldon after the crash-shortened race. This is definitely very scary and unfortunate. My thoughts and prayers with the Wheldon family.

This is so strange that it happens to an INDYCAR driver. Those cars are far and away the most safe of any racing car. This is a very strange circumstance and hopefully this never repeats itself again. Hopefully they will listen to their drivers next time when they say the track is too fast...

I disagree - the cars caught fire and that is very shocking to me. Indy do not take as much care overall as F1 do in terms of safety - google it. I'm not saying that he would have survived in an F1 car but i think he would've had a better chance. The actual track and desgins are wrong. Concrete walls and no run of areas as well as as cushioned barriers means that a crash of this intensity is probably going to be fatal. He could ONLY hit a wall or the Metal Fence. Hopefully this will serve as a catalyst for improved safety in Indy, not just in the cars but in the circuits. In the same way Senna's death did for F1.

It is so sad. I'm more of a NASCAR guy (No I am not a redneck, I live in Michigan), but Wheldon was an amazing driver. He will be missed.

Yea I'm not an indycar guy either. (sometimes I watch the Indy 500) but it amazed me. On a side note if you are indycar, do you change the cars?

Can we fix the title of the topic? Kinda like misspelling the headstone here...
