So, as probably none of you know, but the people who are in the chat wouldn't be surprised about, I smoke. I've smoked for a while w/o being addicted. I'd smoke a few cigs every day for a few weeks, then stop cuz i didnt feel like it. But recently, ive just been having the occasional cig and then crving more. Im not letting myself get addicted to nicotine again, so im quitting. Do you guys have any advice on how to quit? I'm not doing patches or gum, to damn expensive. Any and all advice is welcome, and please don't post s*** like "smoking kills!" or "why would you do that you idiot".
Thanks guys.

You can get generic store brands now that are much less expensive. Good luck to you. I never want to forget how hard quitting was. Quitting drinking was a breeze in comparison.

Been a long time since I checked, but I don't think the generic patches are anywhere near that expensive. I didn't know they couldn't be sold to folks under 18. So...you can legally buy smokes but not the stuff to help you quit? That's messed up. Better start chewing a lot of gum and eating a lot of carrots.

Well, I had a pretty detailed post typed up, but my computer decided that wasn't good enough.
To summarize that post, just be strong all the way. That answer may be underwhelming, but you have to suffer now in order to reap the benefits later.
Also, set benchmarks to hit (1 week w/o smoking, 2 weeks, etc.) to keep yourself going. Before you know it, you'll be trying to hit a 3 month benchmark, or a 1 year benchmark.
Good luck dude.

Good for you and good luck! I don't have experience with this myself but I heard it was the first three weeks that were the hardest. From there, I heard it was a breeze.

I'd love to help you out, but the only drug I "quit" was weed, and I say "quit" because it isn't addictive like cigarettes are. I had a goal though, and that was Ninja Warrior. I worked towards becoming stronger, I started hanging out with different people, and my culture around me changed drastically. I didn't hang out with the weed smokers, but this one girl who loved to work out with me. So I guess my advice would be to try to come up with a goal that makes your life more healthy, and work towards it. Eventually, once the lifestyle around you changes, it may help fight off the urge to smoke.
But cigarettes are alot harder to quit than weed is... good luck bro.

Seriously, you don't need any temptation. They may not be as addicting at our age but why flirt with danger? I know you know the dangers so the best thing to do is to nip it in the bud while you're still in a good stop. I'll be praying for you.

In the book Crocodile Tears, the eight Alex Rider book, there's a guy that stopped smoking, he did so by substituting the cigarettes with chewing gum, you might want to try that.

Get others to help you, that really is the only way...3 people in my family tried to stop smoking, but the only one who did could only do it because he had his friends taking his cigs.

But thanks guys, ive taken up chewing gum and reading Dr. McNinja
