So has everyone heard about this?
This one hits a little close to home.... literally. Joplin is only about 2 hours away from were I live, and they're saying this is tied for the worst tornado in history. The town is gone.
I had a bunch of family down near there when it happened, they're safe though.

Yeah I saw that on the news today. Terrifying stuff. I heard it's the most deadly tornado since the 1940's.

Yeah been keeping up with it since yesterday. Given that the Alabama tornados were in my mind just a couple weeks ago this tops it.. and to think the season just started God I hate cycles.. this is like the 1960's all over again (weatherwise). For those of you in tornado alley.. my heart and prayers go out to you.

Tornados all over oklahoma today possibly. Will be moving into where I am in a few hours.
Edit: Looks like earlier than I thought. County west of me is in a tornado warning, with a possible very large tornados and severe outbreak. Looks like all my wool is going to get blown away :-\

According to channel 5, The National Weather Service just used language they hardly ever use, to emphasis that Oklahoma City needs to be warned about developing storms SW of here.
I am in big trouble...

It was about 10 seconds away from killing me, and it let up.
I kid you not.

Yeah that was the scariest half hour of my life and I wasn't EVEN THERE.. seeing it as it tore right through town and about to hit the highway then POOF right back up into the atmosphere.. that was ridiculously close.. So glad you are still with us Sheep!

Wow Sheep, that must be kinda dramatizing to see that. I'm really happy you're ok though.
Edit: I heard somewhere that some scientists think the reason for all this crazy weather we've been having is because of the magnetic poles shifting, and we're only a 1/3rd of the way through.

Damn sheep. Count your blessings bro. That's crazy... Edit: I heard somewhere that some scientists think the reason for all this crazy weather we've been having is because of the magnetic poles shifting, and we're only a 1/3rd of the way through. Eh... I think it's just a really bad season. We don't know what's going to happen when the magnetic poles shift, since the last one wasn't on record... and most scientists don't believe it anyways. I don't even think we are going to notice it when it happens.

Not quite, there were 2 violent tornados near OKC at about the same time, that one hit northwest of OKC, the other hit south, where I live. It was actually this one It hit Goldsby, which is the next town over, I live on the other side of the highway from Goldsby, had it crossed, I would have likely been hit.

Sheep, I'm relieved to hear you're fine. That must have been horrible to wait out.
The deaths and injuries from this series of tornadoes are so upsetting. I just hope everything clams down soon.

Yeah.. was on the phone literally explaining where it was.. it had to have been no less than 100 yards or so.. it was that close.. and it literally poofed into nothing in a matter of seconds.. never saw something that powerful just fold that quickly. Was praying really hard. Thank God that the weather guys were telling people where to go. I"m reading that they saved a lot of lives since people were able to accurately tell where it was and get out of the way in time.

Was supposed to get tornadoes up here in KC, but it's pretty late and nothing has come of it.
Though storms will continue till tomorrow morning. Despite being in tornado alley, Lee's Summit has yet to ever have a tornado touch down.

www.kansascity.com/2011/05/25/2902994/funnel-clouds-reported-in-kc-area.htmlWas in my basement for quite awhile this morning. - I live in Jackson County, Lee's Summit One was spotted at longview lake which is only a few miles from my house, though we've still yet to have an actual tornado touchdown in LS. This is the closest one has been in awhile... considering I have family spread out all through the jackson/johnson county area, I'm relieved.
