Just imagine the pressure of being 100 THIS time. You are literally the last hope of Sasuke.... EVER. Holy crap. I'd give it too Yamada. He's Mr. Sasuke. He's dedicated his life to Sasuke. He pretty much is the face of Sasuke. Everyone knows him.

I would suspect they will do Akiyama 98, Nagano 99 and Yuuji 100 again if they are doing a retrospect show since they will be harping more on history of the show rather than a semi-retired person past his prime. I'm sure he will be there.. but not as high as 100. Agreed.. Yuuji might throw up..

They should have 200 competitors go.

He pretty much is the face of Sasuke. Everyone knows him. Can't believe I'm saying it but I second this. He really HAS been the image of SASUKE throughout its run... imagine if he was waiting for the "final" competition all along to make his dream run... (*cough fake injuries cough*) Seriously thought they need to bring back people like Jovtchev and Kane to spice things up... we NEED competitors who have a chance to win, even if it IS a ghost of a chance... Although... don't you think TBS might be saying this as a ploy to get more views? If the ratings are absolutely substantial I don't think they would be cancelling it just yet. Also... I think the pressure of it being the "last" time would be exactly the thing to get the All-Stars and Shin-Sedai to give it their all... maybe even see the new final stage (I think Kanzenseiha is WAAAY out of reach. Sorry but... it took 4 competitions to clear the FIRST course... and we've only had 2 with this cycle)

Sorry if this is just a stupid question, but what if the ratings for Sasuke 27 are actually high? Would it be possible to continue the show after? I mean it is possible if they got some celebs, large amount of comedians, and some very skilled competitors. And if the all-stars all performed pretty and someone made it to the 4th Stage, wouldn't that boost up ratings as well?

They should have 200 competitors go. Why? They don't have the money to run 100 in one day.. you want it in 2 days? /facepalm Leave that territory to G4. And Yamada is not big in Japan anymore.. And I doubt they will do another Sasuke even if the ratings are higher.. they are rumored to sell.

Well.. If 27 is the end of Sasuke on TBS.. I'm hoping another channel does pick it up... or at least create something new that's like Sasuke.. (Sort of like Viking was like Sasuke for Fuji... Although please less math XD (Is it bad I'm more worried about the math then all the injuries? XD ))

TBS by far gave them the best chance.. most networks would have dropped them like they dropped Viking.

Even if the final show (be it a retrospective or an actual competition) were to do great in the ratings the whole point of the original article is that TBS is moving away from its older properties en masse. "Attraction" shows like SASUKE and Tokyo Friend Park helped make TBS a ratings winner in the late 90s and the early part of the 00s but the TV landscape has changed and TBS is trying desperately to catch up. We already know where part of their focus (and money) is going in the future: www.tokyohive.com/2011/01/kimura-takuya-to-star-in-most-expensive-tbs-drama-ever-nankyoku-tairiku/

Also: M9 has already "failed" on Fuji (VIKING) and Asahi (Taiiku no Jikan) and with TBS also dropping them, the chances of another channel giving them a shot are probably dim. Solomon Ryo, M9's show on TV Tokyo, is no ratings winner either so that's everyone except Nihon Terebi.

Is there a chance that M9 will be given a chance funded by some lesser channel? Like not a major network but still has money.. Like a cable station (Not like G4 but...) I'm just wondering because honestly I don't know about TV in Japan besides what's on it..

Unlike the US, most of the cable channels don't produce their own programs. The ones that do are already owned by the terrestrial channels.

DAMN this sucks. And honestly, they should end it with Sasuke 30, not 27, cause 27 looks like an odd number to go by. Seriously though, sasuke inspired me to build obstacles and work out more, so this is NOT good.

^ That's what I think, too. I think they should end with Sasuke 30. Do 27 this Spring, 28 this Fall, 29 in Spring of 2012, and then 30 in Fall of 2012. That way they could end with 15 years and 30 tournaments. That would be a good way to end, IMO.
