I know I usually don't post in the training section but recently I've decided to start training a little.
I've seen Hibari use a metal pole that two people hold and she jumps off a tramp and grabs onto the pole.
Ishimaru also trains with a tramp.
What's an easy way to train for the Jump Hang?

Buy a trampoline

Bada = Capitain Obvious For Today Anyway, besides buying a trampoline, I suggest you to work on hanging to ledges, ropes, poles or whatever after a nice big jump with a long runup. I tried that a few days ago, and the whiplash-effect almost threw me off, so that's something we gotta work on.

What would I have done without you? You were right about the whiplash. My butt hurts from the fall

The whiplash is 10x worse when using the same set-up for the flying chute It's not really the whiplash, it's just you're probably expecting the rope to stay tight, but once all of your body weight is on it, and you're forcing it down, it gives in a lot more than you'd think it would. If you don't want that to happen, you'd have to tie is REALLY tight. Then again, by doing that it'd be very unrealistic. In my Sasuke obstacle mock-course I make for my friends, I had a jump hang esque obstacle, with a trampoline almost exactly like Sasuke's (Cept round instead of squared) it was even angled like the real one. And you'd have to jump off of it and grab onto a horizontal rope hanging between 2 trees. IMO that's probably the easiest setup up possible. If you don't even have a rope getting any good/accurate practice would be nearly impossible.

If you can't get a trampoline, just work on your overall strength, power and coordination.

I just picked up a cheap mini trampoline online for thirty bucks. Because it's not the same kind of trampoline Sasuke uses, it's not totally relevant, though. It was just so I could actually JUMP into my Jumping Spider. Despite what Bada says, though, you don't need a rope or even a trampoline to train for the Jump Hang. They would help, but most people with replicas seem to neglect their conditioning (or go about it retardedly). Maybe it's a blessing.

I was practicing with a metal spring trampoline for a little while as well, lining it up to branches in my tree, but I wanted ot more accurate so I did what David did and bought a bunch of bungies and made a trampoline like the real one, its great practice and I find it to be alot of fun as well, this thing hits great now!
As for training for it make sure to get your grip strength as strong as possible, I imagine that if you fell or slipped off the rope/branch you could land pretty badly. Plus alot of pull-ups could help, seeing as after you grab on you need to pull yourself up, on the show you can use your feet, but the stronger you make your arms the better.

I agree. A lot of people who train for Sasuke overlook grip strength, it seems. There's more to grip than just hanging on small ledges, guys! Weighted pull-ups and chin-ups to make you strong, tons of reps to build endurance. Win win.

Bada = Capitain Obvious For Today Yes, thank you for filling in for me during my much-needed vacation, Badalight. If you're looking for something really cheap, the best I can come up with is to set up some kind of box or milk crate a couple yards in front of a pull-up bar. Then you get a small running start and jump from the box/crate to the pull-up bar. You won't get the same 'feel' as you would with a trampoline, but you should get the "at the end, I need to put in extra vertical effort for my jump" benefit that some people seem to overlook when doing the Jump Hang. You also won't have the 'give' that the netting of the Jump Hang has, but you will get the "I'm grabbing something as I fall diagonally towards it" and the "I'm swinging forward a bit immediately after grabbing it" things. You don't want to be in a situation where this sensation breaks your concentration on the course and you end up doing a backflip into the water from it. I'm aware my suggestion is wholly insufficient as preparation, but it's cheap and has specific goals that would be otherwise easy to overlook.

Well, yeah. Everything short of replica training is most likely insufficient. Not your fault. You still gave great suggestions.

Doing pullups with towels is great for grip strength.

Kind of. At first it will really test your grip, but once you get used to it you'll plateau. Of course, this can be fixed by adding weight to your pull-ups. That fixes two problems; grip and pull-up strength.

Yeah. I used to do a lot of them, and it's true that after awhile it won't increase your grip strength anymore. But for someone who is just starting to train, or someone with really weak grip, they're great
