So I was watching the final stage of Sasuke 24 and noticed a few things about the competitors times. So use this thread to post your own observations as well. 1. Hashimoto Koji: went very slow on the heavenly Ladder, ended up with around 15 seconds when he got to the rope. About 2 more second and he would've achieved Kanzenseiha making his rope climb almost as fast as Nagano's in 17. 2. Yuuji Urushihara: had 25 seconds left when reaching the rope, and around 3.5 when he won. Koji was a much faster rope climber. 3. Lee: Just plain went slow on the ladder and rope climb. 4. Takahashi: Had almost the same amount of time as Yuuji when he reached the ladder. But after getting tangled in the safety line he actually grabbed onto it like it were the rope, making it really hard for the guy at top to fix the problem which in the end, maybe costed Kenji a win. He got pretty close and he stopped atleast twice to fix the dang thing, had it been for that he would've either gotten REALLY close or won. 5. Okuyama: Had about 5 seconds less than Yuuji when reaching the rope, but otherwise was almost on pace with his rope climbing. Also, if someone else DID win what would've happend to the car? Split it in half?

I agree with your observations, pretty much. And they would've given a car each Said "for Kanzenseiha-acheivers..." in the broadcast, anyway.

Yeah, this one really made me sad. Takahashi was kicking a**, I think he could've cleared if it wasn't for the tangling up of the safety line.

That was still his own mistake within his technique, to me there is no "damn it he would have won it if it weren't for [insert BS here]" lol that's not directed toward anyone here by the by.

Well you can't say Yuuji didn't improve. If it took him around 15 sec to get to the rope with 40 sec total and we know it took him 15 with 45 sec total he obviously improved his speed enough to reach the top this time.

Yeah Yuuji did improve, but his rope climbing is still very slow compared to every one else, except for maybe Lee and Kanno lol.
His ladder climb is what saved him.

I don't know about you guys but I noticed a few of the finalists jump-starting the heavenly ladder by maybe 0.2 - 0.3 seconds. I'm pretty sure Yuuji did it even though that wouldn't affect his victory anyway since he had 3+ seconds remaining.

The sound doesn't exactly correspond with the loudspeakers actually. What they hear and what we hear are 2 different things. It was also a complaint with Nagano's victory back in 17 but for those who were there they also heard the echo. If it were false started they would have nullified it. M9/TBS are sticklers for making sure everyone is playing fair.

I think the difference between winning and losing for most of those guys was not climbing the Heavenly Ladder all the way to the top before grabbing the rope.
A ladder will always be quicker then a rope climb. If you grab the rope and start climbing it as soon as it dangles in front of your face, even though there are 4-5 more rungs on the ladder that you can sprint up, it's going to take 3-5 seconds away from you.
You might have noticed that Yuuji went all the way to the top of the ladder first and then sprung off of it onto the rope. That made a huge difference for him.

Quoted from Jhonsun - "A ladder will always be quicker than a rope climb." - TRUE! i always believed that speed up the ladder was VERY important. A fast ladder climb gives you more time for the rope. A slow ladder climb will mean there is almost no hope left.

I second what awee said ladders are quicker than ropes. They are also easier.
