I didn't really notice this, but the people who first competed on the show by winning a spot in SASUKE by going through some sort of Trial or competition is what is saving the show and keeping the First Stage from getting any easier.
Take them out (ANC/ANW, STQers/Ito Yoshiki, and Lee Enchi), and here is the amount of First Stage clears you have in the Shin-SASUKE era: 18: 6 19: 2 20: 2 21: 6 22: 2 23: 5
Without them, SASUKE 20 would have ended in the Second Stage and SASUKE 22 would have ended on the Shin-Cliffhanger (as Okuyama would be the only 3rd Stage survivor).
What do you think about the rise of the qualifiers and how big of a role will they play in 24?

Woah, you're right! I keep forgetting Enchi once had to qualify for his spot.

That's pretty scary that had Levi not passed Stage 2 (or even be there as Brian failed Flying Chute) it would've been a Sasuke 19 repeat -- that would've been the end of Sasuke right there. Now if only the STQ'ers/ANC guys beside Levi can get past Stage 2...

Underdogs Rule!!
Not to mention that Nagano would have been the sole finalist in 6 Shin Sasukes

Not to mention that Nagano would have been the sole finalist in 6 Shin Sasukes Wouldn't he have only been the last one left in Sasukes 18, 21, and 23 (which means that he would've been the last one left in only 3 Shin-Sasuke tournaments)? Anyway, back to scnoi's question. Yeah, I never noticed how of the 41 Shin-Sasuke First Stage clears, a whopping 18 of them have been Sasuke qualifiers, with the majority of them coming from Sasuke 23. That has made a rather significant difference in the turnout of both the tournaments' results and Sasuke's apparent future overall.

And he tied for "sole finalist" in 18. So really he only got the furthest in 2 tourneys.

Yes the "sole" or only finalist in any of the 6 Shin-SASUKE tournaments.
On the flip side, looking at those numbers, what is up with the other people? Besides the All-Stars and trial guys, the most any of the other groups (Pro Athletes/average Joe) have cleared in one tourney is 3 (besides 18). Also, had the trial guys not been there, the last three tournaments would have gone clearless through the first 82 people. Only SASUKE 6 holds that feat.

Actually a lot of the powerhouse people that used to be there are no longer there and/or have done very poorly. We have a continuing list of people that used to be there that either have decided to not come back or haven't been invited back. I'm hoping with the rise of previous competitors coming back that the trend will continue.
