Got my copy today.
They only have clears (stage and obstacle) and no times. Their data is incomplete for some reason towards the middle run of the show whereas they have 100 contestants for the earliest shows.
BUT
They don't include any names. They only have their occupations or what they were notable for.
LOLOLOLOLOL.
For those wondering, I got a Hioki card. I didn't order one from TBS because that character is dumb.

You gotta be kidding me, that's it? Not the data is incomplete, but they only show people's occupations? I'm guessing it's because it's easier to know someone's occupation than their name. That kinda sucks.
Anyways, if you'd like to send screenshots to me or anyone who wants to edit the SASUKEPEDIA wiki, please do so because it would be a big help to kind of complete the wiki. Inui strikes again!!!
Edit: Also if anyone has the book, please in SASUKE 14 edit the person in #72. It's the iCarly Institute guy. The reason why is I looked for what his number is, and it's not listed at #74, it's #72. Again.
Edit 2: Really, TBS and Higuchi decided not to recordkeep? What is wrong with them. No wait it's Japanese privacy laws? Aw shucks.

That's happened a few times.. AND if it's during Higuchi's run but not Inui's.. that would make more sense..

You've got to be kidding me.
There must be some privacy issue involved where they don't have the right to release people's names for some reason, or it would be considered unethical for some reason in Japanese culture. The only other possibility that I can think of is that they simply don't know the contestants' names, and that can't be possible... can it?

TBS is notorious for not doing their job and letting others do it for them. Higuchi years were the property of Monster 9 so if the mid years Ube is referring to has to do with that.. then it makes sense that they just don't have a lot of the information. Hell.. there were tournaments that had like 110 competitors.. to add more to that on an official list would let the cat out of the bag. That's one theory I think of course (as to why they didn't put the names).

Man, my clear time loving heart is in pieces right now.
On a serious note, I am admittedly a little disappointed. I mean, it's better than nothing, don't get me wrong, and I'm glad it exists since it ultimately is nothing but a net positive for result documentation, but I think a lot of us were hoping for something more comprehensive than this. That being said, i do understand there were likely legal issues in regards to displaying some names, and it's also possible a lot of the clear time data has been lost sadly.

This isn't ANW.. there are no legal issues. No one signs anything before competing in Japan. Never has been that way (especially in the dates during the time Ube mentioned is missing). This has everything to do with Higuchi's era and a lot was lost because TBS didn't keep records, nor did they produce it. Even now.. hell.. Inui is the one that has everything and TBS defers to him by hiring FOLCOM. TBS is notorious for dropping the ball (and not just with Sasuke - as any anime fan can tell you).

Hmm, didn't know a lot of that actually. So, a lot of that earlier content is probably just lost media now? That's a shame, for sure. EDIT: I now see above that you had actually said pretty much the same thing earlier in the thread and I had just missed it. My bad, haha.

It's not 'TBS being lazy' or anything, it's the same reason why Sasuke can't get released in the US and when it can (like on YouTube) it's extremely watered down. Japan has certain laws pertaining to rights of privacy, I think I heard some older shows (not Sasuke) had to be completely thrown out back in the day because of those rules, they could never be rerun due to those rules. The data is incomplete in some places but it's only in like a few tournaments (albeit horribly destroyed, for tournaments like 27 where there are 99 competitors listed, you could chalk that up to there not being a full 100 as that has absolutely happened before, and in this forum's history as well. You cannot use that excuse when the tournament before has less than 70 listed lol), other than that, as someone who tries to edit Sasukepedia (and plans to add these in once I have enough time), I feel it's important and interesting to share with those outside of theiir target audience (given as we know, there is an audience for the show outside of their target one lol)

I ordered via Amazon and got a card. Although if I had gotten a Yamada, I would lie to Amazon and say a card didn't come with my book.

M9 went into liquidation and nothing survived. The only reasons have any data is that inui kept his copies when he was director. He told me that himself. The time where M9 was in full control is lost to history. TBS is notorious for this kind of crap. Even now.. inui has the copies of everything he put his hands on. Official lists of competitors is something that was malleable and only when we brought attention to it did anything change. Part of the problem was that even though a list was created, not everyone would show up. That’s why more than 100 were invited. So unless they had the sign up list to know who was shoved in without numbers, the list is incomplete. Even now with official lists.. there’s a few here and there that are snuck in if they had more than 100 show up. Obviously the more famous would be the ones with numbers “officially” in a list like this but the less famous we just don’t know who they were. All that to say when it comes to Sasuke it’s not a privacy issue since the majority of the contestants are not actors with contracts. Now rebroadcast issues that’s a whole separate thread altogether.

Why are they not showing times in your opinion? IMO, earlier Sasuke's (during Higuchi's time) were not 4 hours long. So time crunch was especially difficult to showcase the 1st stage. Higuchi (just like Inui) liked to hype the latter stages since ultimately that is what is more exciting for them. The only difference is that Higuchi didn't reorder clears to fit a narrative. Inui does. That is why I suggested to Inui to put out a list so people know wtf the actual order is even if he doesn't show them. That and that helps with still promoting the show by allowing people who will not break NDA tell people they were on it and help drum up excitement for the broadcast. But that's another thread. LOL

All these things aisde, is the book itself actually worth getting? Don't mind the book price but shipping + just being stingy for missing out due to leaving Japan about a week before release has me second guessing
