Paul Hamm was the one that forgot to press the button in the 14th (as the Wiki says). I remember seeing it; I was totally bummed out too. Now if someone can answer/correct/clarify me on this, but wasn't that the first tournament where they used the button at the end on Stage 2? No the button in stage 2 was first used in SASUKE 7 SASUKE 8

Yes Paul Hamm forgot to press the button, but he was pretty new to Sasuke, so he may have been a little clueless. Shingo has been to Sasuke quite a few more times...............he should know that there is a button at the end.

I hope we see a side of Shingo that says "I'm tired of these failures, dammit, it's now time for revenge" in this tournament. Well ok, it's just probably frustrating for him to keep enduring this sort of thing.

I'm glad Shingo got his revenge, but I'm wondering if he'd ever be able to go all the way with his shoulder. I don't know if he re-injured it recently, but if he's STILL having trouble with it after all these years.......

Was talking to a friend of mine last night and she explained to me what happened in the 3rd stage with Shingo. He did reinjure his shoulder again. When he starts his run he's already having issues and as soon as he touches the rings he turns over and looks at Nagano and Takeda and yells that he can't feel anything.. He then tries to grip the rings and nothing is happening. He tries to tough it out and he yells again he can't feel it. Nagano then yells back to just drop because it's just not worth it (meaning to injure yourself even more) and that's when Shingo obliges and drops into the water. So from that calm exchange.. it seems he was having issues between Stage 2 and 3 and he just got up there to see if he can tough it out. Personally I think he did it at the drop of the last wall lift when the wall hit him across the shoulders. But that part is just speculation on my part.

Ouch! Poor Shingo. I hope he's better now. Btw, in Sasuke 18, I think I know why he fell from the Flying Chute. I've DVR'd all of the tournaments except 22, which I taped (DVR was broken), so I've watched that one several times. One time I noticed that when he jumped off the chute and grabbed the rope he grunted and kind of sounded like he was hurt or had the wind knocked out of him. I rewound it and watched again and saw why: the rope hit him in the solar plexus. It probably knocked his wind out. For those of you who don't know, the solar plexus is the area between the stomach and chest. It's a cluster of nerves, so it's very sensitive. I've been doing karate for 3 1/2 years, so that's why I know about that. In Isshinryu, the style of karate that I study, a lot of the punches are meant to be thrown to the solar plexus because if you hit someone there you can knock their wind out. If you hit really hard you might even knock them out cold. If the rope from the Flying Chute hit Shingo in the solar plexus, that would certainly explain why he fell. He tried to go on, but if he was focusing on trying to catch his breath, he probably wasn't paying much attention to the obstacle.

^ Good analysis. Well I guess that would explain how he lost his grip on the net, but on 21 he also grunted when he was on the Flying Chute, but it was just too soft so you probably couldn't hear it.

I noticed in Sasuke 23 when he pushed out with the arm rings and then stopped at the first bump. He kinda smiled shaking his head while looking at Nagano and Takeda like,"Yeaah, I can't do this." By that time, I knew something had to be wrong.

Although I hated seeing Shingo fall, completing the obstacle wasn't worth hurting himself further, so I'm glad he let go. I hope he can get his shoulder taken care of, and that the injury isn't long-lasting.

Funny that looking back on what I said in this thread (reply #1) didn't happen to Shingo but another All star, it's exactly what happened to Yamada. Shingo clearing though, I should have known he would do it, I was ecstatic up the a** when he caught that net with plenty of time left.

He's dislocated a few times AND has had surgery. Outside of divine intervention he's screwed for life. He will never ben 100% and will be susceptible to that coming out again. He's at the mercy of his shoulder being re-injured.. still think he hurt it on the wall at the end of stage 2.

That's what I was referring to, him hurting his shoulder at the end of stage 2. When I told my mom what happened, she said that he might have pinched a nerve, which could require surgery. He probably develop arthritis in that shoulder later on, possibly within the next few years. I wouldn't be surprised if he has tendonitis in it. That alone can cause problems for him, especially in the third stage. I've had tendonitis in my right shoulder for 3 years, and if I had a tendonitis flare-up, I doubt I could do any of the third stage obstacles. OK, that wasn't a very good example, since I don't think I could do any of the third stage obstacles anyway You get my point.

I think you're thinking about it way to much, he's always had shoulder problems, simple as that.

I was sad that Shingo failed early in stage 3 , but I prefer that to him being in pain

Would've loved for him to pull a "Sasuke 5" again.

Shingo was arguably my favorite highlight after Sasuke 23. I couldn't help but crack up watching him pass the "Angled Ramp" because he had a big grin on his face that looked like he was saying "I remember you! Not this time!!". It was a joy to watch him pass stage 1 and 2! Get well Shingo!!
