*Tada becomes the seventh competitor to reach the final stage more than once. He also sets a new best for #73 *Isa, Yoshiyuki, and Keitaro all set a new best for their respective numbers, #24, 50, and 75. *Saikawa Koji is just the second competitor to have failed the second stage on all of his first four attempts at the stage. *This is the fourth tournament where the clear percentage on the second stage was 50%, after SASUKE 13, 16, and 18. This is the first time it happened when the clears were in the double digits.

Weird and useless facts:
When Nagano and Kane compete in the same tournament, Nagano fails the Warped Wall.
When Akiyama and Kane compete in the same tournament, Akiyama can only be stopped by a trampoline; otherwise he wins the tournament. This was Akiyama's first trampoline fail since Sasuke 8.
Kane and Shingo have cleared Stage 1 in Sasuke 1 and 40. Shingo can only beat Kane in performance if Kane doesn't clear Stage 2. (Kane did better than Shingo in 1, 4, 6 and 8, but Shingo did better in 7 and 40).

Speaking of 50%. From the Second Stage onwards, the percentage of the clears can be subtracted by 25%. Third Stage - 3/12 (25%) Final Stage - 0/3 (0%)

Jun Sato cleared 1st stage for the record 11th time in a row and also cleared Stage 2 for the record 8th time in a row.
Jun Sato has never beaten Cliffhanger; he has failed it 7 times and has streak of failing it 6 times in a row (between his 1st and 2nd fail he failed Flying Bar)

After 25 years, the oldest record of Stage 1 clear had finally beatened by Kane Kosugi and Yamamoto Shingo. * thanks for Inoue surfer, your record is kokomade. After 24 years blank, finally second Japanese woman cleared Stage 1, which is Oshima Ayano, as many people expected. * However I wish Izumi Hikari will compete in SASUKE 41. This is the first time that having multiples women clearing Stage 1. Morimoto Yusuke reached FINAL AGAIN.that means he tied up with Nagano Makoto for FINAL 5 times. Tsukada Ryoichi cleared since SASUKE 34. Also, he beat Salmon Ladder for the first time. Coincidencely, Last time 3 Johnny's cleared Stage 1, Only Tsukada failed. But this time, 3 other Johnny's failed at Dragon Glider. Kanno Hitoshi finally cleared Dragon Glider, for the f**king first time. Nagano Makoto is the oldest person who can beat Dragon Glider. Urushihara Yuji is the oldest record of Stage 3(among with Suzuki Yusuke), and also the oldest person manage to clear Cliffhanger Dimension. Yamamoto Shingo cleared Back Stream for the first time. He is also an All stars that cleared Stage 1 since Takeda Toshihiro in SASUKE 34. Kawaguchi Tomohiro first naked.(force by tbs I think.)Also,he finally beat Soritatsu Kabe since SASUKE 36. And interestingly, he is the only competitor that reached Stage 3 twice in Kinen Daikai. Hashimoto Koji is the first time compete in a Kinen Daikai. Akiyama Kazuhiko failed at a trampoline area since SASUKE 8? I think. Matachi Ryo's worst record. Yamamoto Keitaro managed to clear Cliffhanger Dimension and Vertical Limit, but failed at Pipe Slider by a failed jump since SASUKE 29. Yamamoto Yoshiyuki is the first Black Tiger finalist. Kajihara Hayate had beaten the fastest Japanese Stage 1 speed record. Also, Sato Jun slightly faster than Asa Kazuma's record. No Rookies joined Stage 3. Best Rookie is Oliver. KAREN first time reached Fish Bone. Torisawa Katsuhide been all cut for the first time since SASUKE 34. Also, Honma Takashi been All cut for the first time. Suzuki Yusuke cleared Stage 1 consecutively for the first time (and also Stage 2). Nakajima (from Black Tiger) is the youngest competitor to beat Dragon Glider, and tied with Tada Tatsuya (in SASUKE 17) that youngest competitor that reach Soritatsu Kabe. Yamamoto Yoshiyuki never failed at Stage 1 or Stage 2 consecutively 4 times since he first compete. Although almost nobody notice, but Takayanagi announcer reached Soritatsu Kabe. Which means he is better than the other announcer Ito Ryosuke's record.

A copy and paste from another thread:
The group from 3971 to 3977 (Tsukada, Sato, Tada, Araki, Yamamoto, Muto, Suzuki) is the third time a group of 7 or more consecutive competitors cleared the 1st Stage. The others are SASUKE 16 (8) and SASUKE 30 (one group of 8 and one group of 7 - had Bunpei cleared there would have been a group of 11 consecutive clears!). SASUKE 4 has incomplete results but unless someone was cut out entirely in the 1st and 2nd Stages it has the most shown consecutive clears of 10.
3972 to 3977 (Sato to Suzuki) is clearly the largest group of consecutive competitors ever to reach the 3rd Stage.

You can tell from the editing that they clearly did this on purpose just so they could sextuple digest them lol. I’d also wager if any of them had failed Stage 1 they probably would’ve got cut entirely. I hope this doesn’t become a trend for future tournaments, that said let’s hope they’ll at least do something about Stages 1 and 2 in response to the insanely high clear rates such that there are fewer clears next time. Fewer clears = fewer digests, though Sasuke 26 has admittedly left the room.

- Ryo has still yet to appear in the third stage in consecutive tournaments, the only member of the rising version shin sedai to do so Edit: completely forgot, but you can also add in the Uncli also (At least active ones) as Keitaro cleared the second stage again. - Kajihara Hayate's performance marks the 7th individual instance, and 11th instance total, of a competitor clearing the first and second stages with the fastest time. He joins some pretty good company too: - Shingo (SK's 3 & 5)
- Nagano (SK's 12 & 13)
- Levi (SK's 20 & 23)
- David Campbell (SK26)
- Asa Kazuma (SK30)
- Ragivaru Anastase (SK32)
- Yoshiyuki Yamamoto (SK39)
- The Backstream has now officially been a part of SASUKE for 10yrs, spanning 13 total tournament appearances - This was the first time since SASUKE 12 that exactly 3 competitors attempted the final stage. - This was the first time since SASUKE 24 that we saw multiple competitors aged 30 and over take on the final, and one of two instances (the other being SK12) in which it solely featured competitors aged 30 and over... note to self, just remember Dakohosu's quote about 40 year olds and try not to lose your mind that Yoshi, Tada, and Morimoto are in their 30's now - Fujita's failure of the Rolling Log marks the first instance that this version of the log completely stopped midway down the track. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last time this occured was in SK25? And if I can also remember correctly, the person that did suffer this did eventually roll the log down the track? I honestly don't remember the last time this occured which resulted in a fail but a female competitor once suffered this fate in SK6, but in a rather cool display was able manage to escape from her predicament and was able to land on dry land safely (Kane nearly suffered a similar fate this tournament, nearly getting stuck moments after his run started, but he was able to push his way down) - Keitaro failing the pipe slider by way of failed dismount marks the first time since SK29 that someone failed the pipe slider jump, interestingly enough that person who failed it was a guy by the name of Morimoto Yusuke, I wonder what happened to him... - After 23 years, spanning 36 tournaments, the second stage clear record of 11 was finally broken...by 1 extra clear. The previous record was 11 set during SK4 - This was the very first occurance that a child of an All-Star competed on the course, with Nagano and his son Kaiou competing together.

40 has possibly the most clears with less then a second left in any official Ninja show, and the most in one stage, with 5 overall and 4 in Stage Two. The next most I could think of is ANW Season 7, which had 4 overall.

These may have been said already but cba to read through the entire thread lol.
- I believe this is also the tournament with the most Salmon Ladder clears, at 23. We had 24 Stage 2 attempts, with only rugby dude failing the log, while no one failed the Salmon Ladder. - Yusuke Suzuki now ties Daisuke Nakata for the most Stage 3 attempts without a Cliffhanger attempt. He is also still (as this was also the case after 39) the only competitor to attempt Stage 3 three or more times and never come in the top five. - Sasuke 40 easily has the oldest average age among the last 10 runs, at 38, and an average age of 46 among the last 5. - If you consider that Yusuke was actually 30 during taping (his birthday is in December) this is the first instance of any stage with more than one attempt where every single competitor is the same age, as Yoshiyuki and Tada are also 30. - Yuuji is the first competitor to reach Stage 3 thrice while in their 40s, and also has now beaten his own record three times as the oldest Cliffhanger clear.

Oh yeah, also, here's a baffling one that is an indicator of how bad the editing is.
Isa was the ONLY competitor to make it to the Third Stage who didn't get at least one of their Stage 1 or 2 runs digested.
Yoshiyuki, Hayate, Yuuji, and Yusuke (yes, even Yusuke) got only their Stage 2 runs digested, while everyone else got both their Stage 1 and 2 runs skipped over. This was also the first instance since Sasuke 34 where we got a triple digest and it happened to FOUR competitors (Muto, Suzuki, Jun, and Araki), while even Tada and Keitaro got middle cut.
To be honest I did like the Stage 3 edit given that there was literally no need to show the Flying Bar and Sidewinder attempts except from those who failed it, and fast forwarding Sato was fine as it was pretty obvious he was going to fail the Cliffhanger anyway. But the Stage 1 and 2 digests were laughably bad, even considering the number of clears.

Not too sure if this is valid but here goes. Suzuki Yusuke has broken his own record by being the oldest Stage 2 clears in back-to-back tournaments.
Of course, we have not one, but two competitors that broke the record by being the oldest Stage 1 and Stage 2 clear in the same tournament. Very commemorative

SASUKE 40 is the first time all members of an acknowledged group (All-Stars, Shin-Sedai, SASUKE-kun Sedai) reached the 3rd Stage together. The closest the All-Stars got was SASUKE 12 (Yamada's glove thing). The Shin-Sedai has so many guys in it that it was always going to be impossible for it to happen.
This is the fourth time that two members of a group have reached the final together: SASUKE 12 with Bunpei/Nagano (All-Stars) SASUKE 24 with Yuuji/Koji Hashimoto (Shin-Sedai) SASUKE 30 with Matachi/Kawaguchi (Shin-Sedai) SASUKE 40 with Morimoto/Tada (SASUKE-kun Sedai)

#100 has cleared Stage One in every anniversary tournament.
Saikawa is the only competitor to be the first Stage One clear in three straight tournaments.
First time since Sasuke 32 where Jun Sato doesn't get the fastest time for either Stage One or Two.
First tournament to have more than one woman clearing Stage One.
First time since Sasuke 34 to have more than one American clearing Stage One.
First time where a Black Tiger reaches the Final.
First time since Sasuke 34 where a Black Tiger fails Stage Two. However, this is the first time that isn't a time out or DQ. (Hiroshige got DQ in 30 on Swap Salmon Ladder, times out on Backstream in 31, and Wall Lift in 34.)
Shingo and Kane are not only the oldest to clear Stage One, but also the Warped Wall, Salmon Ladder, and Spider Walk.
Shingo still has a perfect Warped Wall clear record and the only All-Star not to fail it along with the Salmon Ladder in Stage Two, while Kane still has a perfect Stage One clear record.
Shingo and Kanno(unless you count 27) are the competitors to attempt every Salmon variant in Stage Two without failing it once.
First time where Yusuke isn't the only finalist in the Final Stage with Yoshiyuki and Tada joining him.
That said, every competitor who reached the Final more than once has at least one person joining them.
Nagano is the oldest person to clear the Dragon Glider.
Yusuke is now tied with Nagano for having the most Final Stage attempts.
Jun Sato has the most Cliffhanger fails for a single competitor with 7.
First time since Sasuke 31 where #72 fails the Cliffhanger.
First time since Sasuke 32 where Kawaguchi fails a Stage Three obstacle before the Cliffhanger.
First time since Sasuke 32 where Kanno times out on the Wall.
Kajihara is the second person to fail the Cliffhanger wearing #65. First was Shunsuke in 15.
First time since Sasuke 29 where Hioki times out on the Backstream.
Akiyama is the only Grand Champion to never clear the Dragon Glider.
First time where three Yamamotos cleared Stage One.(Shingo,Keitaro, and Yoshiyuki) This is the fourth tournament where Yuuji clears Stage One after Ryo fails Stage One Kane has beaten Kinnikun's record for the longest Stage One clear gap
