So, now that the competitor lost for Sasuke 40 was released, and I think it's faor to say, was a total curveball and positive surprise, I feel like the perfect way to honour this "Never saw that one coming" moment is with a new guessing game.
What is this Call Your Moonshot thing about, anyway? It's a new spin on the more traditional guessing-game format where the whole idea is to predict the most unlikely, unusual, or generally unexpected thing that will nonetheless still happen in Sasuke 40.
How are we meant to do that? Simply leave your wild predictions, insane ideas, and scorchingly-hpt hot takes that you may have gotten from released trailers, teasers, or competitor histories in this thread, as few or as many of them as you may have in this here thread.
A few days before this tournament airs, I will then create a second thread [provided I am not hit by a bus in the interim ofc lol] in which I will collate all of the ideas that you all may have, and ask you all to score them based on how unlikely and out-there of a prediction it is. Once the tournament airs, the prediction with the highest score that still came true will win [something, even if it's just bragging rights].
To give an example, a prediction that Torisawa would fail the Quad Steps would likely be scored rather low by everybody, but on the contrary, someone predicting Kane's comeback this time last week would likely have gotten perfect marks from most everybody who wasn't clinically insane, and almost certainly already won this guessing game were it to have existed yet lol.
Don't you think that by asking us to predict the twists and plot-turns of S40, you might end up ruining the experience by setting ungodly high expectations? Why would it? It's just a bit of fun meant to see what manner of unusual things we can come up with and hopefully give Inui scriptwriting suggestions for when he gets around to writing the next tournament. Heck, if anything, seeing even one insane prediction come true would probably just make the moment even sweeter, as it would more come with an added helping of "I told you so!" lol.
Anyway, to get the ball rolling on this game, my [first] wild prediction is this: There WILL be a Kanzen this time around, but Morimoto Yusuke will NOT be the competitor who pulls this feat off.

Sounds fun actually, let me give this a go.
We will have both the youngest and oldest clear records for both of the first two stages broken, with the 14 y/o Black Tiger making the Third Stage, along with Kane clearing Stage 1 to break that record, and Yuuji making the Third Stage.
Also, are we allowed more than one prediction?

Also, are we allowed more than one prediction? Indeed you are, feel free to make as many as you can; that said, you've already kinda made two predictions, given that Yuuji's clear was far more tangentially linked with the former part of your sentance. So, for the sake of clarity, I'd like to amend the "more than one prediction rule" to say that if a prediction is made up of multiple tangentially-linked parts, they are each counted as their own prediction. Therefore, when it'll come time for us to score this, I'll probably put this down as "Both Stage 1 age records broken" and "Stage 2 oldest clear record broken", unless you want me to do otherwise or double down on the age barrier and try to get somebody to beat Shunsuke's Stage 2 clear record also. Edit: NVM, am stupid; yours is still the one prediction, but the tangent rule still stands lol.

Shunsuke clears Stage 2.
Matsuda clears Stage 1.

How would you determine which prediction gets what score? Because whether an opinion is left field or unpopular is subjective?
Like my prediction is that Iwasaki reaches the Final Stage, and some people will think that's ridiculous as it's his first time out but others could probably see it as a reality given how OP he is lol.

My crazy prediction is that Nagano's son makes it to Stage 3.

Simple - Everyone will be free to score everybody's predictions in the Scoring thread, and I will then take the average of these scores to determine the [im]plausibility of each prediction.

I’m not suggesting this will be the case as I’d like to assume that everyone’s mature enough in the comments thread but surely the loophole is that I can just rate everyone else’s predictions really low so I win? I’m not saying I would, I definitely wouldn’t as I don’t use this thread for dick swinging purposes, but ya never know who might lol.

I reserve the right as the person in charge of the competition to refuse to count ratings clearly made in bad faith, and will publicly announce when and to what ratings I have applied this rule. That said, unless PeterPizzaBread57 were to magically be allowed back into this server, I don't see a reason why this rule could ever be anything more than academic in practice, hopefully.

I wouldn’t be surprised, PizzaKing made like 5 new accounts though none of them were difficult to work out it was him lol

Ryo will reach Final Stage.
Yusuke will fail the new obstacle or Swing Edge.
Jessie Graff will fail Second Stage.
Shingo will do a Shingo thing.
In reality I could make a lot of these but I wont as to not make it unfair.

Also, thank you ahzoo for the clarification on my earlier post.

Re this supposed new obstacle, unless they’re purposely using Sasuke 39 to trick us it seems as though Stage 3 has stayed exactly the same. The Pipe Slider is definitely still there, easily identifiable from the track, and I think the Flying Bar looks like it’s still there too.

We'll have a young (under 30 years old) female celebrity making it further than the third obstacle. I'm saying this because I'm hoping that Mei Higashimura (#4) learned from her fail on 39 at Silk Slider.

Nagano will pass stage 1 but will fail the Backstream, as he has never attempted it before.
Mr. Sasuke (Yamada) will fail the first obstacle. Either that or he breaks his nearly 20 year streak of not passing the first stage, nothing in-between.

I predict Yoshinori Isa will achieve the 500th clear ever performed on Stage One.
EDIT: Also, wild one but I predict Yusuke will fail Stage One by ever so slightly putting his foot in the water on the Quad Steps, Rolling Hill, Silk Slider, Fish Bone or Dragon Glider. Unlikely to happen but good to take risks lol.

Kanno returns to the third stage
Sato finally clears the cliffhanger
Kane goes out in the first stage BUT on an obstacle prior to the fishbone
And heck, just cuz I feel like this would be pretty insane, but Boruneesan clears first stage.

I'm gonna be extremely optimistic with the clear rates. There's gonna be 30+ stage 1 clears, 15-20 stage 2 clears, 1-3 stage 3 clears. I do not care if this is unrealistic or not, I'm just having a little fun.

Yeah I know its probably not true which is why I added the Swing Edge part, I just like to hope something is different.
