The answer may seem simple, but think about the differences here. Yes, we all want to see Shunsuke. But how Bunpei's return from what looked like a serious knee injury? How about the return of Kane after a long absence? Nakata's return after his injury problems? Jovtchev and Yamada, 2 of the most successful non-all-stars coming back again?
Think about the impact that this particular competitor would have - ratings as well as potential to complete the course. What do you think?

Kane. No explanation needed.

I'll go with Koji.
He was only 1 of 2 guys to make it through the toughest Stage 1 ever, and I don't see him showing up out of shape. And I'm sure he's had enough time to figure out things like "inertia" and "momentum" to help him get across obstacles like the Salmon Ladder and Jumping Bars.

The real question is, why hasn't he shown up lately?
I'd love to see Kane come back but it probably won't happen given why he left. Though I did hear (or read) somewhere that he had been interested in returning. And perhaps the guy who imitated him in #22 might give him incentive to come back again. Who knows....

Koji said he no longer wishes to compete, and that he will not be returning.
The rest, (Yes even Kane) COULD in theory return. But for obvious reasons I think Kane would have the biggest impact.

Koji said he no longer wishes to compete, and that he will not be returning. That's too bad. I would've loved to see him take one more shot at the shin-Sasuke course. On the other hand, Kane still having some degree of interest is really big news, but it should be taken with a grain of salt. Nothing is for certain.

Yes, I agree, seeing Koji would have been nice,
However with Kane, I didn't say it was a large chance, just that he didn't come out and say HELL NO like some had speculated. It's extremely slim, but not entirely zero.

Yeah, I know, I was saying "nothing is for certain" in general. Just a note to all those who might have more hope than we do.
In reality, I think Bunpei is the one most likely to return. He just has to stay healthy.

That stinks. I want a Koji return. Oh well, The Nagasakis' are next on my list then!

While Kane's return would be massive publicity-wise, Shunsuke is the one that could really mount a good third stage challenge.

Wait, how did Lee know Koji didn't want to compete anymore?
That sucks.
I'd rather see Shunsuke than everyone on that list, but Kane would be the biggest impact and he's my second favorite on that list... so yeah.

Enchi talked to him...he's even got a pic of the two of them posing together...it's on wiki under "Koji Yamada"
It seems Kane is the near-unanimous choice.

I still say Shunsuke because he has the best chance IMO to beat the course now, not counting Nagano and maybe Yuuji. Kane may generate interest but I don't think he'd do well on the new course and new fans don't really know him. Of course I could be totally wrong here, but can't see him returnign anyways. Shunsuke has to retuirn this time!

Impact can mean various things. I think for those of us who picked Kane - we meant in terms of bringing back a lot of old viewers who stopped watching because he left. History alone tells us that the show has never been the same since. If Shunsuke came back only the hardcore Sasuke people even know WHO he is so the impact wouldn't be as big. At least that's how I read it.

I picked Kane because if he came back the ratings will boom up

I think it's a tuffee as both Shunsuke and Kane have made a big impact on this course. Esepcially as I always first saw the early episodes when Akira Omori , Kane + Shane Kosugi and Shingo Yamamoto were the best! So 'm goin with Kane just because he hasnt been seen sinse like the 8th competition or something like that:)

In an interview Kane said he would like to compete again if he had time to train.

Well this says best for Sasuke and not best for the Sasuke community so I voted Kane returning would make the biggest impact, He's famous in America and Japan so him returning would make an increase in ratings.
Shunsuke returning would be great for more of the fans, the people who were going to watch anyways, I mean yeah he has a very good chance of making it back to stage 3 but that wouldn't be as great for ratings considering people would already have to tune in and be a fan to know why that's so great
