Ninja Warrior: The quest to summit Mt. Midoriyama returns as G4 attains the exclusive linear broadcasting rights to SASUKE, better known as Ninja Warrior in the United States, from Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc. (TBS). G4 will air all 167 episodes of the legendary competition series that pits heroic athletes of all types from pro gymnasts, to fishermen, to comedians against a four-stage, formidable, and/or impossible obstacle course. G4 will also present three tournaments never-before-seen in the United States, SASUKE 35, 36, and 37. g4tv.com/g4-launch-nov16

When were 28-34 broadcast? They never were in the US as far as I'm aware, but I believe other countries outside of Japan aired at least some of those tournaments, like on Challenge TV IINM.

I hope they take a minimal approach to editing the new seasons. I know it will never happen, but I really just want the Japanese broadcasts with English subtitles. Nothing more, nothing less; no cuts, no edits, no voice-overs.
Also, I imagine the picture quality on the original episodes will be better than what is typically seen on YouTube, etc. So it might be worth re-watching Sasuke 1-26 just for that.

It will likely just be what it was before. Which was actually pretty simple, but did have cut runs.

When were 28-34 broadcast? If not already aired, they will premiere at a future date. G4 has all tournaments that have aired in Japan, which is amazing news.

Shock horror but Sasuke 31-33 on Challenge in the UK actually showed runs in full that were fast-forwarded by TBS, like a couple of Stage 2 runs in 32-33 and Kong's Stage 1 run in Sasuke 31 that got completely cut. They also showed Shingo and Takeda's Stage 1 runs in Sasuke 32. That said for some reason they also cut a load of clears and didn't even acknowledge them, like in 33 they basically cut all the celebrities' runs and claimed there were only 9 clears when there were actually 13 (e.g. ABC-Z, Mori and Takeru got cut). Is it something to do with licensing? Idk.
Either way, the biggest downside of Challenge UK though is that I had to sit through Jim North's borderline unbearable wisecracks throughout the commentary. It's distracting from the actual run when he's trying to make unfunny jokes every 10 seconds.
But yeah, the old G4 edits were utter trash so I hope they improve on those by actually showing the runs in order this time. I can already see them showing Tada's Stage 3 run in Sasuke 37 last even though he wore #49.... such rudimentary editing, as though their main fan base is a bunch of 10 year olds.

So is this not airing on regular television, directv/cable? I get lost with the lingo of some of these streaming services

So is this not airing on regular television, directv/cable? I get lost with the lingo of some of these streaming services The website describes it as a "digital first network" and invites everyone to join them on Nov. 16 for the premiere, which I THINK means that the channel will be streaming online and free. I don't see anything about a subscription fee, in any case. Here's what a staff-member says on the G4TV reddit: I have no idea what Fios, Cox, Philo, and Xfinity are, by the way.

I'm not trying to throw shade or anything; this is a genuine question.
Why do people care so much about the G4 broadcasts given that most of us have watched Sasuke 35-37 and as we know G4 mess up the running order and cut a load of runs? If there was additional exclusive content then I'd understand but there really isn't; even the translations (which if done correctly would alone justify the hype imo) are 90% incorrect. Like there's no benefit of the G4 broadcast over the original, unless you've not seen any of these tournaments and have no access to them.

I think the lack of high quality access is part of the reason. Some of us Americans have/had no clue where to get high quality access to these tournaments. There's just something about being able to watch on a big screen TV without needing to jump through a bunch of hoops and risking viruses. Also, as someone who understands almost no Japanese, we are totally unaware of translation issues.

I suppose that's fair.
And yeah I know a little bit of Japanese and the translations are so different and watered down compared to what the competitors are actually saying it's downright insulting: like a full post-run interview gets dubbed as 'Ninja Warrior is really tough!'....

Most of the videos online, at least the ones I’ve found, are really blurry.

Fios, Cox, and Xfinity provide phone, Internet, and television services. Philo is an Internet streaming service. The following article says: G4, the gaming TV network that NBCUniversal shut down in 2013, is coming back to cable. The content studio and network, revived by Comcast Spectacor more than a year ago, will officially return to linear television on Nov. 16, 2021. At launch, G4 will debut linearly on the channel lineups of Comcast’s Xfinity TV, Verizon Fios, Cox Communications, and internet streaming service Philo. Does anyone have the episode schedule? Like which tournaments are airing when? On my guide, every episode is just Ninja warrior. No info beyond that.

I thought they'd be streaming Ninja Warrior live on Twitch, but I guess not. I don't see a livestream on YouTube either. I guess it's just selected content (probably the in-house stuff like Attack of the Show) that will be livestreamed. Disappointing.

The guide will probably be updated sometime this week since they're doing their hybrid rollout of streaming/linear. The channel hasn't even shown up yet on tvguide under a zip/provider I know should have it - www.tvguide.com/listings/ The website only shows their Twitch/YouTube streaming schedule for this week - g4tv.com/scheduleEven channels that aren't debuting can have odd placeholders. For example, whenever I check for the following week of Toonami, often times it's either a 5 hour block of Rick and Morty, or the schedule from a year ago.

The early announcements said Ninja Warrior would be debuting exclusively on linear while their other shows like AOTS would debut live on streaming and recut for linear the next day.
I don't think TBS or any Japanese company would be open to allowing any kind of deal for livestreaming, even for older episodes.
