I know whoever is left here probably weren't even born so I'm curious your perspective now. Tomorrow is the 20 year anniversary. I'm not interested in the politics or what people are doing now. I'm curious your take on that event. Whether you were old enough to remember, if you were even in the country, if you know next to nothing about it, if you were old enough to be impacted. I'm curious. The first thread I made now 11 years ago. The second iirc (not sure if others were made but found these on the search) was 6 years ago.

No I was still around. I'll actually add on to my older post from 6 years ago. My mom actually had to take my cat to an appointment and when she got there, their TV was NOT on any news channel. She SCREAMED at them to change channels and the room fell silent as they saw the 2nd tower get hit. The appointment finished and she had no chance to drop off the cat as she had to pick me up after I had fainted a while back and had a mini panic attack. Poor Chessie had no clue why I was scared... the cat was just over a year old...

I wasn't born yet, but my parents were on holiday at the time for a Madonna concert and I think they left America one or two days prior to 9/11 to come back to NZ. Because all flights were stopped afterward from what I heard, they almost would have been stuck on the other side of the world. They said it was still pretty shocking for them to come home and the first thing they heard was about what was going on.

I was only about a month old when it happened. According to my mom, we were at (I guess my first ever?) doctor appointment. We lived in Fairfax, Virginia at the time, which is right next to D.C., so when the Pentagon was hit, it quite literally felt too close to home. One of the receptionists at my doctor's office had a boyfriend who was working there, and she started freaking out so much that the office ended up having to close for the day. I could never imagine the fear that she — or anyone felt that day. It's strange to think that something this impactful happened in my lifetime, yet I don't remember any of it.

Yeah I figured as much. I just find it interesting the perspectives. Especially from those who weren't around for it and how it was taught.
