What do you think would've happened if Morimoto had failed the Fish Bone, which he was literally millimetres away from failing in 33?
Do you think this would've affected his confidence for future performances and potentially even caused him to fail the earlier stages in subsequent competitions?
P.S. shout out to zoran for his post inspiring mine, lol

I doubt it would’ve made that much of a difference. We’ve seen how he responded to a shocking choke in 37, so I doubt this would’ve been a career-ending failure like with Ryo’s Tackle choke. And besides, the Fish Bone was a new obstacle at the time, which can be a crapshoot for pretty much anyone. I think he would’ve just shrugged it off as renewal problems.

Given how he was shown training for it in 34 even with the near miss, adapting to the obstacle would have likely been little trouble for him. And the Fish Bone hasn't been a very damaging obstacle despite three buffs. Most people who fail it are joke competitors and the few serious people who do have failed either due to rushing (Ryo in 37) or unfortunate circumstance (Takeda in 38).
