What are your best and worst Nagano runs ? Mine are Best 1-Sasuke 17, I know it's overrated, but you have give him credit for achieving his dream after several failed attempts. 2-Sasuke 23, his last Final Stage attempt, could have been better if he achieved another Total Victory. 3-Sasuke 12, probably the most emotional run, who knows how different things could have been if he won. 4-Sasuke 32, his last run got me on the edge of my seat. 5-Sasuke 27, his last hurrah in Stage 3, but was predictable as he had no chance on the Ultimate Cliffhanger. Worst 1-Sasuke 26, probably the most disappiontung run. 2- Sasuke 30, he was robbed by the SSL. Thanks Inui 3-Sasuke 10, his trampoline technique on the Jump Hang was poor 4-Sasuke 24, he tried to rush, and paid the price. 5-Sasuke 20, his Downhill Jump fail was just horrible.

Best SASUKE 11, 12, and 13 - Of course seeing him make 3 consecutive finals was satisfying to no end. SASUKE 14 - His epic wipeout on the Jumping Bars says it all. SASUKE 17 - For his kanzenseiha. SASUKE 23 - He would've totally won twice had they not cut the Final's time. It would've been amazing to see him win considering her had to overcome an obstacle fault. SASUKE 32 - Seeing him nearly clear on a renewal at 44 was impressive. SASUKE 38 - I know this one seems unpopular, but I thought it was pretty impressive he made it that far considering he's 38 and out of training.
Worst SASUKE 16 - Watching him get tangled in the Devil Balanco then rolling the Pipe Slider away was upsetting. SASUKE 21 - Seeing him get robbed of a Final on behalf of an obstacle fault really annoyed me. SASUKE 28 - It was clear his mind wasn't in the game in this one. SASUKE 29 - That injury really was sad to watch.

For me these decisions are sort of based on his performance relative to the perception of Nagano as a competitor. Hence, my 'worst' would be his poorest performances when he was considered his strongest, while my 'best' would be vice versa.
So my best would be: - His breakout run in 9, going from someone who got cut from the broadcast to going the furthest that tournament - Sasuke 11 and 12, as he was still relatively early in his career not seen in the same vein as Yamada or Akiyama yet absolutely dominated. - Sasuke 23: because he nearly achieved Kanzenseiha at 37 years old - Sasuke 32, because most people at that point regarded his decline as 'unrecoverable' yet he went further than most veterans that were half his age, and it was probably the best way to end his career: an early mistake would've been underwhelming, while if he'd made Stage 3 people would just want him to return.
My worst: - Sasuke 24: Everyone expected the teased Kanzen for this tournament to be Nagano, so to see him give his worst performance ever after a near-second Kanzen was utterly disappointing. - Sasuke 25-26: Nagano had barely made the Final Stage a year prior to either of this tournaments so he was still viewed as the GOAT who just had a freak accident in 24, however these two tournaments furthered this disappointment by indicating the start of what was to be the decline of a legend. - Sasuke 28: he should've cleared as the course was no harder than 27, but he just gave up which was really disappointing to see and so unlike him. Was really sad to see his passion for Sasuke wane like that. - Sasuke 31: Purely because this performance is what led to his decision to retire the following tournament.
Controversially I didn't pick his Kanzenseiha in 17 because by that point it was simply a matter of 'when' rather than 'if' he'd ever beat all 4 stages, so the result was sort of expected and I'm sure when the Kanzen was teased everyone knew who it was going to be.

I wouldn't consider 17 to be too inevitable considering his performances from 14-16, not just overall result but previous runs. His stage 1 run in 16 was pretty messy with him clearing with less than 10 seconds.

But who else, given that a Kanzen was massively teased in 17’s really long pre-show Navi that also massively capitalised on Nagano (which sort of implied that it was going to be him), would you have thought was anywhere near as likely to win it?
The only person I would’ve thought people may have guessed at the time was Bunpei given that he nearly cleared Stage 3 in 16. It was never going to be Takeda given his infamous inconsistency on Stage 3, while the other All-Stars were on their way out.
Then there were the secondary players but no one really had a shot bar Shinji who didn’t even compete that tournament, and maybe Koji Yamada given his rope climbing skills.
So long story short, it was quite predictable, in my opinion at least.

People almost forget about Nagano's run in Sasuke 9, particularly in Stage 3. He was the first person to attempt the stage, and had to to face a new obstacles like the Rumbling Dice, Globe Grasp (which nobody else cleared) and an updated Cliffhanger. He only came up short on the Pipe Slider, which he made a mockery of everytime after that, despite every other competitor struggling on it.
Also his run in 21 was similar. He was the first to beat the Jumping Bars-Hang Climbing (without even using his legs)-Spider Flip combo. He may have won if it wasn't for the botched Gliding Ring. I'd argue that his run in 21 was more impressive than in 23.
I also liked how, from 11-13, his demeanor in Stage 3 changed from "Wow I've done it!" to, "Right, let's get this over with". He seemed to get faster and faster in those tournaments- his Stage 1 run in 13 is still something else to behold.

Best 1.) Sasuke 17. Pretty hard to top the most iconic kanzen in the show's history. 2.) Sasuke 13. He was absolutely dominant in this tournament. It's so fun to watch him demolish the First and Second Stage in this one. And of course, it was his third straight final stage appearance. That inspired a difficulty boost in the 3rd stage, where no competitors would make it back until... Sasuke 17! 3.) Sasuke 23. He was really close on this one, and it was a harder course than the one he ran in 17 and 13. It's gotta be Top 3. 4.) Sasuke 12. 0.12 seconds away. He was great throughout this run, but didn't dominate the early stages quite like in Sasuke 13. 5.) Sasuke 27. His best past-his-prime run, and clearly a great comeback run after three straight Stage 1 fails.
Worst 1.) Sasuke 10. In an era where he was dominant (it started in Sasuke 9), this run sticks out like a sore thumb. He didn't even have any problems with the jump hang back in Sasuke 7 and 8, when he failed the Warped Wall. 2.) Sasuke 15. Again, it's more disappointing because this is his era of domination. Failing the Metal Spin sticks out. 3.) Sasuke 26. This was his third straight First stage fail, and it was on the Jumping Spider. This signaled that he was definitely past his prime. 4.) Sasuke 24. Follows up a Final stage appearance with slipping up on the Jumping spider. Yikes. 5.) Sasuke 38. I might get hate for this, but I was kinda expecting his grand return to also have a First Stage clear attached to it. After all, Takeda (basically) did it, and he's not that much younger than Nagano.
