I'm pretty sure it would be way easier and less creative than the real Sasuke. We tend to... ruin things.

I would like to see the same set up as Sasuke 17 to be honest. But as Oti said, it'll probably something lame and watered down.

I honestly think it will be mainly about balance, where some evil little man will make obstacles where if a single blow of wind catches you, you'll fall.
Or it'll be so easy there will be multiple winners.

Two things to keep in mind. The first, this is a Japanese television program, and three of ABC's now-staple programs should be indicative of what Madison Avenue thinks of Japanese television. The first two are obvious, but the third is America's Funniest Home Videos (I think I've stated that I'm a bit of a TV/game show nerd already). Anything that actually resembles Sasuke will be played up for laughs with maybe an out-of-place bit of Serious Business at the end. (At this point, I'd like to go on the record to say that Wipeout is not an actual game show or sports competition; it's AFV in a controlled setting with willing participants set in the guise of an obstacle course/stunt show.) Secondly, Sasuke tends to have no winner. Even the small victories tend to be downplayed; it's either someone wins or everybody loses. I can't tell you a game show on the air right now that does not regularly have defined winners. I don't think that plays well here. You gotta shoot for a happy ending, so what you may end up with is something similar to Celebrity Viking where the Final Stage is essentially Best Man Wins and that's it.

I think a few things will be different...
1. Competitors will be able to get back up after falling 2. There will be a winner every competition 3. It will be extremely watered down and be filled with obstacles that are designed to have funny spills.
And as for funny spills, can you honestly say that you never laugh when a comedian goes down in the most hilarious of ways?
Although, Oti is probably right on this case...American TV ruin things.

Still wouldn't fix the problem. In fact, it would probably heighten it as your typical American viewer would want to see one of them win, otherwise it's "fixed".

I like the aspect of very few people winning.

I agree an American Sasuke would be played more for yuks than actual competition.
Though for some reason I'd have higher hopes if NBC got their hands on it. They tend to take Sasuke-like programming and keep it athletically based and they've been big on alt sport programming.
And I could still see an American Sasuke be a 3-hr show if it aired on a Sunday afternoon in the summer. And a winter on a network that doesn't have any NFL or NBA action.
I think it's more possible than some people think that they're could be an American Obstacle Course like Sasuke, but it depends on a producer recognizing that audience is out there.

Then you obviously haven't seen this. The range of descriptors for Ben Silverman, NBC's essential head of programming, range from idiot to a certain part of the female anatomy. ( Brief story on that.) Dick Ebersol, head of sports programming, is admittedly doing as much as he can with (comparatively) nothing.

I think an american Sasuke would be not too far off. I think the main changes we would notice would be about safety due to insurance co's and people being sue happy in america.
Everyone would be reuquired to wear protective gear (similar to the Ninja Killer in Santa Monica) and some of the more dangerous obstacles may be removed (Slider Jump).
Also the mud pits wouldn't just be dirt holes filled with water, they would be like portable swimming pools or something.
But for the most part, if they're calling it "Ninja Warrior" or "American Sasuke" or whatever, they'd probably try to make it as similar to the Japanese version as possible?

I think I'm just using foam pits on my course.
Or spikes.

And it is a good point to be made. However, these are the guys that have picked up a flailing NHL, near-dead AFL, and also broadcast more alt sports (Ironmans, AST Dew Tour, etc.) than any other network. Their alt sports broadcasts typically run 2-3 hours which I why I could see them doing a Sasuke-esque show more than any other station. And as David said, yea they'd have to Nerf the course like they do for Wipeout, but I would hope there'd be some element of risk to it. Or at least signing a waiver to not wear all that padding (man, that would just seem to get in the way).

Sad but true. I'd sign a waiver in a heartbeat just to show that not all Americans are afraid of getting a little "boo boo"
