After Sasuke 33, Asa Kazuma retired to an injury which most of us didn't know until later. Here is my imagination of what would his results would be if he didn't retire. Lend me your thoughts.
Sasuke 34:#95 Fail the first jump on the Ultra Crazy Cliffhanger. Sasuke 35:#96 Fail the moving ledge on the UCCH. Sasuke 36:#94 Fail the moving ledge on the UCCH or Vertical Limit Kai fail. Sasuke 37:#97 Fail the Cliffhanger Dimension

Sounds about right; though I don’t think he’s that immune to failing the First Stage. I reckon that could’ve been entirely possible in 35 due to the Dragon Glider, and 37 due to the weather.
Imagine how he’d react if he cleared the Cliffhanger though ......

I don't think Asa will ever beat Cliffhanger, what ever the version. He seems like Yamada *having some sort of mental block* while attempting Crazy Cliffhanger. So, no, I don't think he will be able to clear it. However, I agree, he will fail First Stage in SASUKE 35 and 37 because of Dragon Glider and weather.

Just rewatched Sasuke 29 today, and Asa is truly amazing to watch...in Stages 1 and 2.
After that he's just like Jun.

Asa is one of those competitors like Kawaguchi who looks and acts much younger than he is (he's currently 38 years old). I hate to say, because Asa is one of my favorite competitors, but I think he was in a decline when he retired, and if he were to come back, the results would be less than astonishing.

There's not really evidence that he was declining when he retired. He made Stage 3 in 5 out of his 6 most recent competitions; from SASUKE 28-31, and made it back to Stage 3 again in SASUKE 33. His blip on SASUKE 32 was on a completely redesigned Stage 1 on an obstacle he'd never attempted before.
By that trajectory, I reckon if he stayed in SASUKE he would've definitely given us some more Stage 3 runs; likely in 34 as it was basically the same as in 33, at the very least. Late 30s really isn't that old anymore; Hioki, Darvish, Yuuji, Suzuki etc. have all given some of their best runs at those ages.
Obviously, if he were to compete now having missed 4 competitions, then yeah sure he's out of practice so is unlikely to do well, but I definitely don't think he was on a decline when he did retire, so it is a shame we didn't see him compete more.

Out of curiosity, how bad was his injury though, I know for his case, it was bad enough to retire, but like, Kanno recovered enough to compete from possibly the worst possible injury for an athlete which was an Achilles tear ( I've had tendinitis before, it's not fun) Both Shingo and Takeda have had their history with shoulder problems but they were fine the very next tournaments they competed in. D.D (You know who) tore his ACL but then did solid later on. Was it really just the injury cuz he was still being his passionate self in T34.

I’ve always wondered this as well. The guy was so passionate for Sasuke that whatever injury it was would’ve heartbroken him. I’m surprised he doesn’t burst into tears every time he thinks of Sasuke (not taking a jab at him, I’m genuinely being serious). Also, he’s a landscaper/carpenter, so I wonder if whatever injury it was affected his profession as well.
With regards to injuries though, anything, if persistent enough can stop you from doing Sasuke altogether because it’s multi-disciplinary. I feel bad for Kanno, the guy’s clearly got a penchant for injuring himself very easily, his shoulder I’m pretty sure has gone like 3-4 times now, twice in competition as well.

Except when Asa retired he actually retired.
Also unlike Yamada, Asa actually had a pretty likeable personality, and didn’t sacrifice his career or his family life for Sasuke.
