Kevin Bull posted he’s on tonight’s semi final which makes zero sense since he competed in Qualifier 4 and anyone else I’m seeing post about tonight was either in Qualifier 1 or 2...? Do you think he might have been moved broadcastwise to fill in Drew's spot since he's edited out? I mean he was under NDA so that might be why he's not mentioning that.

But the semifinals have slightly different courses (obstacles #2 and 5), so how would they pull that off?

Like the comment above said, the semifinal courses are slightly different. After watching the first semifinals I think they just moved a couple people around.

Not gonna lie, it kinda sucks that they're milking the finals for two episodes.
It makes sense for normal seasons to have a 3-4 part final, since they have close to 100 competitors to work through.
This year though, there are barely 25, and a few power tower races. At the very least, it better mean that nobody gets fast forwarded. They literally have no excuse to do it with like 15 competitors in an episode.
Oh, and digesting David Campbell, Lorin Ball and Brian Kretsch in the SAME segment was an incredibly bad move last episode.

Honestly I think it would make more sense for them to do a 3 hour finale. 27 runs + 7 power tower runs is a lot to fit into 2 hours.

Yeah I'm almost certain it was because of drew. He could be seen during Taylor Johnson's digested run, so I think it's safe to assume he competed in this episode.

Fluff pieces should not be necessary anymore, since this is the 3rd time these competitors are going so no more sob stories.

That jump to the last panel of The Dungeon is something I wonder about, with how other shows might add a rule for DQ. You'll see people grabbing either above or below where the bars are mounted. Torres had both one hand above and one hand below. I imagine Vietnam, for example, might have a rule where you couldn't grab it above the mounts, while also doing nothing to cover it up to prevent it from happening in the first place. Something to keep in mind when training any obstacle.

Pretty good episode overall. This episode had two elements I really didn't like though- both in the same section:
They're implying that they're treating this year as a proper winner (in my book it's not the same as beating a four-stage Midoriyama course) AND they called it the "first Power Tower showdown"! I'd like to think it's the first and only one please!

I definitely want to point out the love they showed Flip this season. He is one of the ninjas that deserves the fame and glory 100%. Poor guy has been through so much.

Makes me wonder if they get the same title Geoff, Isaac, and unfortunately Drew have. Technically they are the winner of the season but to get the same title? Whoever it is shouldn't be grouped with those 3 if they don't get to attempt and finish a 4 stage course in my opinion.

IMO, part 1 of the finals was great! Everyone got shown, there were very few sob stories and there were both shocking fails (Michael Torres etc) and amazing clears. This was as close to a perfect edit as possible IMO.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm preferring this new format instead of the OG format for ANW specifically. It's nice to see the best competing all at once with more pressure than just beating the course, and I'm enjoying seeing this finals not have an obstacle that destroys everyone like Wingnut Alley.
I don't want this to be a regular format for any country besides America though. Other countries know how to balance their courses better and get consistent results every year, whereas America either has made it too difficult or too easy. They're doing a lot better with the course this season and it makes the new format even more bearable.
In other words, I'm not saying ANW should ditch the 4-Stage format, but if they do, I wouldn't complain.

I'm a big fan of this format too, it seems like there are a lot of people who absolutely hate it though which is weird. If NBC decides to go back to the 4 Stage format, I really hope they do something that actually raises the stakes of qualifiers and city finals. The semifinals and finals this year really made it feel like anyone could go home at any given moment which is part of why I like it so much. It seems like with qualifiers and city finals, you rarely have any shocking moments compared to this season.

There's a lot of purists here who are heavy on nostalgia for SASUKE and have been struggling to accept newer changes (Mega Wall, LMS prize, Power Tower). Idk if that's where some of the hate is coming from, but I agree. It's a much more competitive season imo which is why I want to see as far as intensity goes. The only thing I actually hated from ANW were Safety Passes and unnecessary buffs.

I don't hate it, but I'd prefer the old version. The four-stage idea is the basis of the show, so I don't think it's asking for toooo much to go back to that when possible. Hopefully next year.
