I just watched a thing called "25 Reasons to Worship Ninja Warrior", and I thought I'd make my own list for the forum here. The original "25 reasons" was made by G4 around the time of the 25th tournament, so I figured it could use an update. So here's my 25 reasons I love Sasuke!
#25: Wall Lifting. The iconic ending of the 2nd Stage. Always an intense moment when the klaxon is blaring and a competitor is running out of time.
#24: Rolling Log. A classic 1st Stage obstacle that I'd be glad to see return at the start of the 2nd stage, as was planned in Sasuke 37.
#23: Okuyama Yoshiyuki. His consistency in getting to the Third Stage, in spite of how old he was... quite impressive.
#22: Shiratori Bunpei. Speaking of consistency, Bunpei was among the most consistent during his heyday.
#21: Komiya Rie. I know this is supposed to be Sasuke, but I'm putting her and one other Kunoichi competitor on. Rie was just awesome!
#20: Hatsuta Keisuke. G4 generalized one of its 25 reasons as "the announcers", but I have Hatsuta as one of the 3 announcers on my list. He's been on the mic for so many memorable Sasuke moments, particularly Nagano's kanzen in Sasuke 17.
#19: Salmon Ladder. It has become a mainstay in the Second Stage, and gone through many vairations. Some better than others!
#18: Akiyama Kazuhiko. The first champion, plus a man who battled through a degenerative eye condition. Quite inspiring.
#17: Ogasawara Wataru. His fresh, energetic voice adds great excitement to the fast paced first and second stages. I was glad to see him return in Sasuke 37, and I honestly like him more than Sugiyama Shinya, the First Chair announcer.
#16: Miyake Ayako. The Kunoichi champ. Three times in a row, now that's impressive!
#15: Its International Following. The fact that Sasuke competitors come from all over the world, and that there's fans all over the world, is quite cool.
#14: Cliff Hanger. As someone on here recently argued, the 3rd stage probably has become too cliff hanger centric. But it's still an awesome and iconic obstacle.
#13: The Final Tower. Take your pick for what variant is the best, but any final climb to the top is an exhilirating moment.
#12: Pipe Slider. The dramatic ending to the 3rd stage, particularly when that last jump usually makes or breaks things!
#11: Kuramochi Minoru. I mean seriously, who doesn't love Mr. Octopus?
#10: Spider Walk. Either in its jumping spider variation, or by itself... this has always been one of my favorite obstacles. I especially love Nagano's runs blazing through it!
#9: Morimoto Yusuke. Despite his shocking fail in the last tournament, it's safe to say Morimoto is still this generation's greatest competitor. 3 final stage attempts, 1 kanzen, and he's still only 28!
#8: Urushihara Yuuji. The only two-time champion. Obviously nothing to sneeze at there!
#7: Dedication of the Competitors. While I didn't put Yamada on the list because he's a jerk, I guess he generally fits this category the best. Sasuke competitors have shown incredible training and dedication.
#6: Takeda Toshihiro. Despite his string of Stage 3 fails, Takeda is still a legend. Sato Jun unfortunately seems to be this generation's Takeda with his cliffhanger fails, but both competitors have had incredible consistency.
#5: Emotional Moments. I mean, this is why we watch the show, right? From unforgettable kanzens, to the shocking fails... that's what makes Sasuke what it is.
#4: Warped Wall. Known in Japan as the Soritasu Kabe, this has got to be the most iconic obstacle. It takes out champions, just look at Morimoto's fail in 37. It's been in so many tournaments, yet continues to be a force.
#3: Furutachi Ichiro. Definitely my favorite annoucer! His raspy, dramatic voice made every moment seem more meaningful, from Akiyama's kanzen, to Yamada and Kane's emotional falls. I wish he didn't quit after tournament 12, this man is a legend.
#2: Yamamoto Shingo. I was pretty upset he got left off of the G4 list. His perfect attendance record, his general charm... all of that. Shingo is just awesome.
#1: Nagano Makoto. Doesn't get more obvious than this, folks...
Anyway, what do you think the top reasons to love Sasuke are?
