I want to hear everyone predictions for this year’s format. I know what it was, but want to see what you all come up with. Mega wall? No mega wall? Last man standing? Re-creation of Vegas?

I am REALLY hoping it's a full Sasuke-style tournament. However with some reporting up to 150 ninjas makes me question that possibility a bit.
So, honestly, I have no idea. For space reasons, I am gonna say yes to the Mega Wall but no to the Power Tower.

I feel like they might be doing something along the lines of Qualifiers -> Semifinals -> Finals. Seems like that's the least likely considering that they did it in roughly 1-2 weeks and based on the rumors that it won't be a sasuke style tournament (even though that's what I'd love most). I also find it really unlikely they'd use the Power Tower considering that the entire season was filmed in such a short time span. I honestly feel like the format is going to be underwhelming, but I really hope I'm proven wrong

From whispers in the other thread, I doubt it's gonna be a Sasuke format.
Think about it this way.
When "porting" Sasuke over to America, NBC looked at the Sasuke format and said "this won't work in America".
NBC made the conscious decision that Sasuke's format would not win over American viewers, and needed to be changed/expanded.
So why would they do a 180 now? What incentive is there for them to try a format that they have already decided is unviable?
I fully expect this season to be either a copy-paste of the European Spinoff format (which also takes about a week to film), a Ninja vs Ninja crapfest... or something else that deviates even further from what Ninja Warrior is supposed to be.
I don't expect Sasuke. At all.

The format was mentioned in an article on USA Today, not sure if I’m allowed to detail it in here

According to USA Today this is Season 12's format: {Spoiler} "After qualifier episodes in cities around the country were shelved in March, "Ninja" eventually moved forward with a season of eight episodes, half the usual 16, taped from July 14 to 23 inside the St. Louis dome. The show shifted to a team format, inviting 50 of its biggest names from past seasons, with each choosing two more competitors, men and women, of their own choosing." The article with this information can be found on USA Today: here

With what’s currently going on with our current grand champion, there will be some heavy edits. He’s the face of the show.

I'm just hoping he didn't advance far enough to where it completely ruins the entire season

Doubt it. I read from Twitter *not directly from NBC Twitter, but few of its worker* that they gonna heavily edit the show *indicating that he go far* and will postpone the airing of the show until at least Autumn.

With everything else going on...anyone want to speculate what the heck a 50 team format looks like? Not trying to overlook what's going on, but I need some positive ninja talk in my life.
Head to Head, Ninja vs. Ninja style thankfully makes no sense based on the number of teams (a logical bracket doesn't work with 50). I'm really clueless what would be logical in a team format.

The teams are only so you have people rooting you on. It's still person vs course. Fairly close to how international shows work.

If the team format impacts progression/or the tournament, my interest just plummeted.

There may or may not be a special twist included with being on teams 😀

He'd be on the sidelines for only a couple of people. I was afraid he would be on the sidelines for most people as the most recent champ and as someone who was previously at least on camera good friends with a huge chunk of competitors.

As a major fan of ANW since the very first season on G4tv, I sure hope they don’t label this season ANW12. If it is a team format, it just wouldn’t be the same. It goes against the whole theme of ANW, which is man vs course. I would love it if it was another version of Ninja vs Ninja, but not just ANW12.
