One of the defining characteristics of my home and native land is that we want to be the United States. If an American reality show becomes popular enough, it will get a poorly made Canadian version. Think Canadian Idol, which acording to google has a 3/10 rating and was hosted by the Prime Ministers son. Think Wipeout Canada, which lasted 13 whole episodes. Amazing Race Canada has somehow survived for a record 7 seasons, although it’s future is in jeopardy due to the plague. I believe that Canadian Ninja Warrior can succeed if handled correctly. Here is my idea for how it would work: REGIONS Do it ANW4 style, where you have to participate in the region you live in. I decided to give each of the 6 regions geography based names: Tundra (Nunavut, NWT, Yukon) -Course would definitely be in Whitehorse -Weakest region, had to include them Mountains (Alberta, BC) -Either Vancouver or Calgary -might have Sean McColl Prairies (Saskatchewan, Manitoba) -Winnipeg or Saskatoon -no idea who would compete here Great Lakes (Ontario, Quebec) -Montréal probably -my region! Maritimes (Newfoundland, Labrador, PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick) -Moncton, Halifax, or St John’s -Rich from Armchair? Course is ANW style, 6 obstacle qualifiers ending with the Wall, Top 30 do 10 obstacle finals, top 15 advance to the... FINALS Do a 4 stage Vegas style course at Niagara Falls or Toronto Island (if they have space), obviously with colour coordinated clothing (ANW 4-8). Without Wild-Cards, it would be 90 competitors, which would be very mathematically annoying, but at least it avoids the terrible decisions. Fellow Canadians, do you think that the show would be able to exist in this format? Also what region would you be in?

I unfortunately don’t see it happening. I’ve been waiting forever and have given up hope (NNL for me baby). As someone who has taken a tv broadcast course in college, the Canadian tv way of doing things is awful, especially unscripted. Why make your own version when you can just buy from the states and force people to watch on your channel? And then if they do a remake, they mess it up big time (look at wipeout Canada, i think amazing race only succeeded because it was so cheap in the start, challenges like deliver bagels in Montreal or take a greyhound bus to Saskatoon without being murdered). Only things I’ve seen succeed were splatalot and japanizi, both kids shows, because they sold the rights to a huge amount of countries (and because I was on then obviously lol). Scripted wise we got trailer park boys, red green, little mosque on the prairie and corner gas that seem to be successful in other countries.
However, I’d do (keeping in mind budgets are minimal):
2 qualifiers in Vancouver
2 qualifiers in Toronto
That’s it. Then 2 finals and maybe a final at just some random lot (splatalot set maybe)
Seems unfair to people in other provinces but with such a scattered population and little money I think that’s the best we get, at least to start.

I... doubt a Canadian spinoff will ever happen.
ANW is too big, and in too close a proximity, to make such a HUGE show worthwhile. 90% of TV Stations would probably prefer to just buy/show ANW instead.
