Well, it was produced in the UK two years ago and sucked.
Just because a show has an obstacle course and people falling doesn't mean it looks anything like Wipeout. This is much more drawn-out and if I remember much more repetitive and only one obstacle at a time.

NBC aired an episode last night. The pacing was quick. The tone was light and silly. They poked fun at the contestants a lot.
There were 5 rounds. Each a different challenge. They run individually.
In this episode, a giant slide for distance, drop from a moving thing as close to the circle, stay on a moving surfboard and launch for distance, hold on to a thing for as long as possible, and another slide but through a blind tunnel shaped like a cannon for height + distance.
Round 1, Top 8 move on, they showed 5 people. The ones who went home were in a montage. Round 2, Top 6 move on, they showed 6 people, and fast forwarded the other 2. Round 3, Top 5 move on, they showed all 6 people. Round 4, Top 4 move on, they showed all 5 people. Round 5, they showed all 4 people.

From what I'm reading on the UK version ( wikipedia), they had the same 5 challenges each episode, and the last challenge had 3 rounds that just got progressively harder. I counted 7 challenges in the trailers that weren't in last night's episode, for a total of 12, so far. I doubt they'll swap out the last challenge since it's shaped like a giant cannon. It sounds like a decent amount, and it already has more going for it over the UK version, but I'm hoping there's even more since they're all variants of a few base designs or structures.

Tonight was the season premiere on USA.
As expected, the last round was the giant cannon. However, the other 4 rounds featured completely different challenges from the NBC episode, which was Episode 4. Seems promising because these types of game shows with single obstacle challenges tend to suffer more from lack of variety.
Apparently, NBC will be airing Episode 8 this Sunday.

Every episode has aired across both networks. Only episode 10 is left on USA, while episodes 1 and 9 have yet to air on NBC. Rounds 1, 2, and 3 have 5 different challenges each. Round 4 only has 3 different challenges. Challenges are generally used twice, some only once. Three times for Megaslide and Fly Ball. Round 4 has the most repeats with Blast Off four times, and Ripcord five times. If there's a second season, I'd like to see a bit more variety, even though there's already a fair amount. I don't know about the last round, maybe two or three variations. Bringing back all the winners for an episode would be nice. Perhaps even a second chance episode where they bring back a bunch of memorable or meme competitors. I'd also be open to getting rid of one or two rounds in favor of multi-part challenges. 1 | Speed Skimmer | Target Toss | Drag & Fly | Ripcord | The Cannon | 2 | Human Dart | High Bar | Sidewinder | Ripcord | The Cannon | 3 | Speed Skimmer | Target Toss | The Drag | Rip-N-Fly | The Cannon | 4 | Megaslide | Savage Swing | Surfrider | Blast Off | The Cannon | 5 | High Water Mark | Savage Swing | Surfrider | Blast Off | The Cannon | 6 | Speed Skipper | Fly Ball | Drag & Fly | Ripcord | The Cannon | 7 | High Water Mark | Beach Ballin' | Speed Bag | Blast Off | The Cannon | 8 | Megaslide | Beach Ballin' | Speed Bag | Blast Off | The Cannon | 9 | Megaslide | Fly Ball | Sidewinder | Ripcord | The Cannon | 10 | Speed Skipper | Fly Ball | The Drag | Ripcord | The Cannon |

I'm not sure if there will be a second season but it is interesting they have episodes airing on both NBC and USA. Perhaps it's NBC's way of having a slot to air something different in Covid times. Or perhaps they see potential.
Either way, the show would be improved a lot more by having a winners episode. That way the show feels like it builds to something. Also, cut the number of people so everyone is seen and have a wider variety of challenges. Those changes made Holey Moley so much more enjoyable.
Also, the fact is I know it's not a serious show. But the challenges don't feel as fun. I don't laugh much and I'm not wowed much. The show relies more on the competitors than the challenges I feel. Optimally there should be more fun or wow moments with the challenges.
