What are your favourite 10 runs by Stage and competitor? Not including successful final stage runs. Just your favourite, not necessarily the best runs; some of mine even include runs in which the competitor failed that stage
Mine, in no particular order: 1. Ragivaru Anastase - Stage 1 - SASUKE 31 2. Ragivaru - Stage 2 - SASUKE 31 3. Shinji Kobayashi - Stage 2 - SASUKE 11 4. Hitoshi Kanno - Stage 3 - SASUKE 31 5. Rene Casselly - Stage 3 - SASUKE 37 6. Tomohiro Kawaguchi - Stage 3 - SASUKE 30 7. Tomohiro Kawaguchi - Stage 2 - SASUKE 35 8. Bunpei Shiratori - Stage 3 - SASUKE 12 9. Akira Omori - Final Stage - SASUKE 1 10. Naoki Iketani - Stage 3 - SASUKE 10

Thanks for asking. Mainly the intensity of his runs. In Takeda's heyday he moved like an absolute demon on the course. In 19 after he bounced backwards on the Pole Maze he moved insanely fast to make up time, and he did that while facing arguably the toughest versions of the Jumping Spider (which he just barely cleared) and Half-Pipe Attack to date. Even though he couldn't scale the wall in enough time I always look back fondly at that Stage 1 run as being the most intense and unpredictable of all time. You just don't see that level of vigor anymore IMO. As for Sasuke 20, it was very similar to his 19 run, but him failing twice in a row and just at the top of the rope climb really gutted me, but it was still just so memorable. Honestly if he hadn't cleared in Sasuke 21 then I probably would not be looking back so fondly at 19 and 20. It was that buildup that I think made 21 a very enjoyable tournament for me.

I defo see your point. It’s always nice to see a competitor crawl back up from a regression to where they were before. Like Yuuji in SASUKE 36/37. Most people remember his first stage mess-ups as bittersweet rather than what caused him to retire (which would’ve been the case if he’d failed in 34)

I never really considered Levi because I didn't like him personally, I always felt he was a bit arrogant especially with his showboating in SASUKE 21, and all of his reactions to people failing etc. seemed so fake, maybe they weren't but they sounded it. And Okuyama's 2nd stage run was awesome, I felt like he just wasn't worried about time and then all of a sudden he had to wake the f*** up and hurl over those walls, but again I forgot about that because SASUKE 26 was a super forgettable tournament for me.

Okuyama's Stage 2 clear in 26 was so beautiful. He was the only Japanese competitor to clear and he was 40 years old (and I believe the only Japanese man to ever do so other than Shingo in Sasuke 5)! He was easily the most consistent competitor back then and was so dedicated. He really showed just how far training and persistence could get somebody in comparison to others.
