SASUKE 15 & 16 back in the G4 days when I was 11 years old (2009). Good times.

Everyone on this forum has to remember at least the very first tournament they saw, which lead them to become huge SASUKE fans. What was your first tournament (if you can still remember)? and if you can really picture it, who was the first competitor you saw and what stage were they on? For me, I remember one day I was flipping from channel to channel on the only cable TV we had in our house (due to boredom). I interestingly stopped on G4, it was SASUKE 7, and I remember it was during the 2nd Stage. The competitor was either Shingo Yamamoto or Kane Kosugi--I still don't remember clearly. Literally the guy in your profile pic was the first person I ever remember watching (hope you don't change it ;P) Think he hit his head after or before the Rolling Log or something on a beam. No idea the tournament number. I used to watch Cops with my dad on G4 when I was a kid and then NW came on one night. Instantly fell in love

I basically used this guy as my profile picture around the time I join Sasuke Maniac (2017). This was because me and my brother were watching SASUKE 6 on YouTube and he eventually was shown--and the announcer (Hatsuta Keisuke) kept calling him by "HANIHO HENIHA!" We couldn't stop laughing. Ultimately, this became an inside joke for us, and that's pretty much the reason why he's my icon photo. But yea, what a coincidence that this was the very first competitor you saw. I might never change my profile photo now that you mention it lmao.

First competition that I saw was G4 version of Sasuke 12 in Finnish television in 2005 (I'm from Finland). First competition I saw live from stream was Sasuke 30. After that I've watched all of them live. I've seen every Sasuke tournament probably 5-7 times, lol

I wish I could remember but all I know was it was on G4 (which I'm sure most here will be the same), but I have early memories of Yamada and Nagano, and various silly competitors which hooked me on the show.

I saw Sasuke for the first time in 2014. The run that I saw was Yuuji in 24.

I had an uncle who said “Hey Doc, check this out!” and showed me Sasuke 12 on G4. It was stage 2 and I wanna say it was... Yamada’s run. Can’t exactly remember.

G4 only show three runs from Second Stage of SASUKE 12, those are Yamada Koji, Yamada Katsumi, and Nagano Makoto's runs. Only three choices. If you see someone fail the stage, it gonna be Yamada Katsumi. If the person clear, then it is Yamada Koji or Nagano Makoto.

I first found about the show when I searched up some obstacle course videos on YouTube when Wipeout was around at the time (I missed that show so much), and I found a video where some Japanese guy failed on the Slider Jump (keep in mind I was 11 years old) and I didn't know who he was or what the show was called up until I discovered the TV show on G4. And I found out it was Makoto Nagano.

Pretty sure I first saw SASUKE from watching Akiyama's final stage attempt and got interested, noticed that a second guy did it so I saw it and I still remember my first reaction to what would be Nagano's total victory was not the climb, rather how yellow the spider walk panels were, to the point where whenever I saw a Banana, I would get reminded to the panels, I was very weird as a kid back then.

When I was a kid I watched G4 edited versions that were dubbed in my language. The details are a bit blurry but I remember green mats and definitely remember Makoto Nagano winning, so it must've been around Sasuke 5-17. I was very happy as I had seen him fail final stage so many times before and this message of never giving up and trying until you win inspired me very much and I remember it up to this day. It was his attitude of never making up excuses and trying harder next time that made him my favourite competitor. Last year out of nowhere I remembered about this show (largely because of Nagano) and ended up here.
I am also sure they didn't show Shin-Sasuke but I remember looking that up on youtube - I remember Jumping Spider and red mats and being surprised that course had changed so much.

(Keep in mind that even though Nagano didn't really get eliminated by the Slider Jump in SASUKE 23, he still failed it due to a technical error the first time around.)

That's quite interesting, I honestly think the course designers really outdone themselves by remolding the final stage with making the panels yellow instead of any other color. It makes that tower more vibrant, even from far away. It's kind of how they made the wall lifting walls from stage two more industrialized for the first 12 tournaments, designing them with yellow and black diagonal stripes and huge white numbers for better appeal.

I'm really happy that you're actually getting back into SASUKE. I can relate from you standpoint on how you remember tournaments based off of first stage mat colors. For me, if the mats were green, I would identify the tournament as one of the older tournaments. If they were black, then I would know that they were much more recent. If they were red, I would always remember there being no more of the rolling log or jump hang obstacles, since i'm always used to seeing them in previous tournaments. More importantly, I actually wish for them to make the mats blue in the future when I was younger. Turns out they practically did starting from SASUKE 34. Hahaha
