So probably most of you here had seen Yamada's two additional attempts on Second Stage in SASUKE 12. Of course, no question about his first attempt *he clearly forgot to remove his gloves before Spider Walk* and third attempt *he clearly ran out of time at Spider Walk*. But, in his second attempt, there is some controversy when Yamada seems to touch, but not press the red button at the end of the stage, making him fail to clear Second Stage. So, do you think Yamada did touch the button and deserve to attempt Third Stage, or he actually miss it and didn't deserve to attempt Third Stage?

To me, it didn't seem like he actually pressed the button because he may have touched the top but didn't see his hand on top of the button. And after the time ran out, Yamada probably lied to the announcer about the button not working just so that he could get another free attempt and clear the 2nd Stage.
But it does seem unfair to me that gloves on the Spider Walk were not allowed otherwise, I definitely don't think Yamada deserved to go to Stage 3.
And so far in history, he is still the only person to get a third attempt within any stage.

Yamada I never really liked because I always felt like he had really bad sportsmanship partially brought on by his sheer desperation to achieve Total Victory. Like he won the Kinniku Banzuke quick muscle because he claimed that Akiyama cheated just so he would win himself, also someone said that he claimed Yuuji cheated on his Final Stage run on SASUKE 24
In terms of SASUKE 12, I don't know how obvious the rule about removing gloves was but I feel like it was verbally stated hence why every other competitor took theirs off. Still, I don't think it was worth disqualifying him; almost every Spider Walk fail is elicited by the legs slipping rather than the hands.
Either way, I feel like he touched the button but didn't press it on his second attempt. This is what I mean by Yamada having poor sportsmanship; I feel like anyone else would've accepted that they made a slip-up and moved on, but Yamada just lied and asked for yet another attempt.

Where can I see the footage? Sorry for taking so long to reply. Apparently, the video is lost, it was on YouTube for a month or so back in April.

I don't think he actually cleared because there's never been a case of a malfunctioning button; he must've touched the button but not pressed it properly.
As for whether he should've been disqualified for the glove situation, bit harsh given that gloves don't give you that much of an advantage on the Spider Walk as it's mostly legs (every single fail has been as a result of the legs slipping), but at the same time everyone else knew to take them off so it's sort of a dumb mistake.

I feel like he didn't make it. Just... he missed the button! Not enough pressure on it. That's on him not it. But hey at least we get the iconic, person fails brick climb because of it.
