That looks, well, $&@!. I was excited until they announced the team crap. Of course they had to make every episode a teams episode after all the specials are what killed off the show in the first place. Arrgh!! Awful page design and advertising too.

I posted that other site because it was the only one with a date, but no idea if it actually closes in September. Apparently, the show only announced casting teams last week, and started with singles before. I don't know what the application looks like, but it's possible and likely they're still casting singles, especially since the FB Live Q&A hasn't happened yet. The various social media sites have the announcement without the teams in their earlier posts. Singles Teams http://instagr.am/p/B_mx0LhnLj6

Summary of all the new info from yesterday's casting meeting: • Qualifier and Wipeout Zone are back
• Show is going to be more 'competitive'
• Second round is head-to-head heats on a 'longer' course - this is the new course they've been talking about in press releases
• Matt - 'we're going to up the comedy'
• Shooting in October and November
• Confirmation of show being open to Southern Californian residents only as the three rounds are filmed on separate dates so multiple trips to the set would be required
• Confirmation that the whole series is 'teams of 2 and squads of 3'

Oh god, that is not good. What were they trying push during production?
Edit: Cardiac arrest is what I'm getting over at KeshiHeads. I assume it must have been the cold water and cold air. They've been known to "ice" the water during production

Yeah, it's really sad. I don't think Wipeout can be blamed unless they've made the course significantly harder or didn't do an appropriate physical, but that doesn't make it less sad and jarring to see someone died. Not good for these folks.
When the guy from the first show died it happened two weeks later and ultimately turned out he didn't tell them his medical concerns because he was wanting to participate so much. This one puts Wipeout a bit more at-blame.

Very sad. Lots of factors to think about when getting into these shows or taking on any physical challenge. The competitor's background, if they grew up playing sports, or if they've only recently started getting into physical activity, as well as their level of fitness. It could be anything since they're casting for Wipeout and not Broken Skull Challenge or something. Potentially, undiagnosed heart condition like those stories of high school or youth athletes dying during practice or being hospitalized, or having a heart attack while playing Dance Dance Revolution. High level athletes can also have respiratory problems - ( Upper Respiratory Tract Diseases in Athletes in Different Sports Disciplines), ( Respiratory disorders in endurance athletes). The conditions of the course and filming. The weather has been mild to cool, which means it's easier to push yourself more, especially if they're filming any courses at night. I doubt it's Chase Me levels of bad where Gao had a flu and had to push through over 17 hours of filming, but it's still something to be aware of. Throw in ice water and you have similar types of stress on your heart rate, blood pressure, and arteries as what leads to those snow shoveling deaths and injuries each year. Lots of things that can add up.

Premiere was tonight. Not awful, not amazing. John i feel is a good fit, Nicole not so much.

I don't know who the audience is supposed to be for this. Stupid dances but also drawing a dick. It's like it is trying to cater to adolescents. The banter between John and Nicole didn't feel natural. John was alright but Nicole just did not seem to do well at all.
As for the format, all I know of the original were the red balls so I'm happy they are back. The qualifier felt sloppy. We have times and some wipeouts but we don't see them completing the obstacles at all. I would have liked to see at least one full run. The gauntlet and the final round were way more interesting. The final round was a nail biter for sure.
I really wish it built towards something. Like a winners episode to become the champ of the season. When Holey Moley did the transition from weekly winners to an overall winner, it seemed more interesting. John and Nicole need to feel more natural together. The show certainly has potential but it certainly can be better. To me it's worth watching because there is little on right now.

it definitively can still deliver in the wipeouts so it's atleast overall alright, but the editing and I'll give it time for a chance of it improving, but just have to say it's really wonky in the qualifier. The qualifier went way too fast, we never had a full qualifier run shown and it just felt like you barely got to proccess a run before they switched to another one.. The gauntlet rounds pretty decent, and idk if this was due to COVID, or it's just making it a proto round 2/3, but I kinda wish it was all 6 in 1 heat, not 2 seperate because that certainly contributed to the rushed qualifier edit. Oh and the hosts, yeah currently wouldn't say better than the original or the UK version hosts, but its so early on that they could improve.

The hosts seemed better in episode 2. They actually made me laugh a bit. I think they still could have done better though. The rushed qualifier is my biggest concern with this show.

My other fear is the back half of the courses (stage 2 & 3) are the same every episode. Also not a huge fan of two people on a pretty easy Wipeout zone but eh I get why. I still don't think Nicole fits but its still too early to tell, but its definitely getting better. I have to imagine Season 2 will work out the kinks of Season 1 as im sure it'll get renewed.
