My take on the most promising candidates: {Spoiler}1. Alexander Wurm (23) Psychology student. Climber in the German boulder league. Calm and efficient. From an inconspicuous participant, who was actually always in the final, to Germany's best. Last Man Standing in NWG3 (2018) and NWG4 (2019). The first and only one to reach the Final Stage in NWG.
2. Moritz Hans (23) Student of agricultural architecture. Climbing coach, sports and rock climber. In 2018 he was part of the German Olympic perspective squad. Carefree, easygoing and a fun guy. Always in the final, Last Man Standing in NWG2 (2017), third best in NWG3 (2018) and second best in NWG4 (2019).
3. René Kaselowsky (23) / René Casselly Elephant performer and circus artist. Showman and probably the most ambitious of all favourites. Breakout star in NWG2 (2017) and since then, always one of the best. He participated in SASUKE 37 (2019), reached the Final Stage and was Last Man Standing.
4. Kim Marschner (21) Sports and rock climber. Climber in the German boulder league. Focused and efficient. Came to NWG through Moritz Hans. Breakout star in TNWG1 (2018) and NWG3 (2018). Injured in NWG4 (2019).
5. Max Prinz (20) German bouldering champion. A calm powerhouse. To me he looks like the German Magnus Midtbø. Breakout star in TNWG2 (2019) and NWG4 (2019), but still inexperienced with some obstacles. Great potential.
6. Benjamin Grams (27) Parkour and freerunning athlete. Member of the show and dance team "Ashigaru". Breakout star in NWG2 (2017), twice in the top five (2017, 2018). He didn't participate in NWG4 (2019) but he will probably return.
7. Sladjan Djulabic (30) Actuary. Regional bouldering champion (North Rhine-Westphalia, 2014). A powerhouse and a fun guy since the very first season. In the second 4 nations special (2019) his performance in the Third Stage exceeded that of Drew Drechsel, Jamie Rahn, Isaac Caldiero, Sergio Verdasco and Rene Kaselowsky and was only surpassed by Alexander Wurm. But regularly he has never reached the Third Stage.
8. Max Sprenger Media and computer science student. Climber. Well-known to be very nervous. Always in the final but he never reached the Third Stage.
9. Oliver Edelmann (26) Plant mechanic. Four times German champion in acrobatic gymnastics and European champion in cheerleading (2013). Always a smile on his face. Last Man Standing in NWG1 (2016) but he never got further than the Second Stage. He has participated in SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia: International Comepetition (2017) and American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. The World (2019).
10. Benjamin Reichmann (33) Helicopter pilot. Debut in NWG3 (2018) and reached the Third Stage in NWG4 (2019).
Further promising candidates: Simon Brunner (22, student of mathematics and computer science), Christian Harmat (28, Parkour World Cup winner 2019), Alex Grunwald (30, owner of a Ninja Hall), Andreas Wöhle (29, parkour and freerunning athlete)
Unlikely to attend: Jan Hojer (27) Climber. He took part in NWG1 (2016) and was the favourite of the favourites, but unfortunately failed in the final due to a balance obstacle. Since then he has never participated in NWG again. In the meantime he has qualified for the first ever Olympic climbing tournament, which should reduce the probability of another NWG participation even more. But hope dies last.
The most promising candidates for Last Woman Standing, most likely again a race between the following two women: 1. Stefanie Noppinger Artistic gymnast. A fun woman. Last Woman Standing in Ninja Warrior Austria (2017). She participated in SASUKE 36 as Austrian representative (2018). Breakout star in TNWG2 (2019) and NWG4 (2019).
2. Arleen Schüßler Vendor of ninja obstacles. A powerhouse. She has been participating since NWG2 (2017) and became the first Last Woman Standing (NWG4, 2019).

NWG imo is one of the less bland European spinoffs and has a stacked field of competitors to boot.
I'm curious as to if they'll bring in The Power Tower, as last year they brought in a Mega Wall and LMS/LWS prize. We'll see this year who's bringing in Power Towers and who won't ig.

Glad this is coming back. Germany is up there with France, Australia and Vietnam as one the best non-ANW/Sasuke ninja shows.

I'm curious as to if they'll bring in The Power Tower, as last year they brought in a Mega Wall and LMS/LWS prize. We'll see this year who's bringing in Power Towers and who won't ig. You have to consider two things:
1) They don't have the ANW system with regionals + Vegas. It's qualifiers + semis + finals. The only option would be to let the winner skip the semis. 2) They film indoors, in hockey/basketball-sized arenas. And you have unused obstacles standing around, e.g. the stuff for the final is already standing there during qualifiers. Not to mention Mt. Midoriyama. The Power Tower is massive, where would they put it?

1. The qualifiers+semis is just a reskinned qualifier/city final combo of ANW. They could do it for the semis and during the final if safety passes were a thing they could use it during that time. That goes for all NW spinoffs. 2. Depending on how much actual space they have based on width, they might not add it. However, ANW12 will be filming 4/5 regions indoors this year and I think it goes without saying they'll put a Power Tower in there to avoid "backtracking". If they found the room, all they'd have to do is make it maybe not as tall as the ANW Power Tower. It's a lot more possible than people think, but it's still possibly a no.

Germany is now adopting the next format from ANW, as Ninja Warrior Germany Kids has been announced today. There will be two age groups (10-11 years and 12-13 years). The recordings will take place in Karlsruhe from June 4 to June 7, following directly on from the recordings of the regular show (Source: Ninfly Münster on Instagram). To be honest, my enthusiasm for this format is limited. Meanwhile, Team Ninja Warrior Germany has still not been announced this year, which is why I now expect that this format has been cancelled.

It was announced that season 5 will receive several changes. This also affects the initially planned filming dates and ticket sales to date. I have now updated the filming dates in the start post. - There will be 5 heats (instead of 7). - There will be more athletes and more obstacles per heat. - The 20 best athletes advance to the semi-finals (instead of 8). - At least two female athletes per heat qualify for the semi-finals (instead of 1).
- If there are less than two women among the top 20 athletes, the remaining women will qualify additionally so that a maximum of 22 athletes can qualify for the semi-finals. - A direct duel of the two best in a heat takes place at the Power Tower. The winner skips the semi-finals, moves on to the finals and gets a prize money.
- There will be 2 semi-finals (instead of 1). - In total there will be 100-110 participants in both semi-finals (instead of 56). - 50 athletes advance to the finals (instead of 28). I don't think the five winners of the Power Tower are among them. So there could be 55 finalists in total.
- There will be 2 finals (instead of 1). - Final show 1 will include a course with time limit, probably the First Stage. - Final show 2 will probably include the Second, Third and Final Stage.

The organizers of Ninja Warrior Germany are hopeful that the fifth season can be produced this year. However, the show will move from Karlsruhe to Köln (Cologne) this year, as the respective federal state has different regulations regarding Covid-19. So the show can take place in Cologne if there is no audience. From 2021 the show will probably be filmed in Karslruhe again (Translated source: BNN). And on 15th April, invitations (or rejections) were sent to the athletes from the castings.

Production will actually start! Probably starting the day after tomorrow and then probably almost 4 weeks, despite Corona (the exact filming dates are not publicly revealed). The moderators have already arrived in Cologne ( Post 1, 2 & 3). And today the last construction work is being done ( Post 4 & 5).

One of the hosts talked a bit about the production of NWG in the podcast "Lauschangriff". If you understand the German language, you can listen to the first 6 minutes of episode 15 ( Spotify).
For the others a short summary: He tells that because of Corona a lot has changed. He's only allowed in the hotel room, the breakfast room and occasionally do 90 minutes of sports. Otherwise, he's 11-12 hours a day at the host's platform. After three days there is a day off. The hosts also don't have contact to the whole team. In previous seasons you could talk to everyone during the breaks. Now there is a locked floor for the hosts, where only the most necessary employees are around the hosts. He also mentions that the broadcast begins in September.

Heat 1 Course: Archer Steps Fly Wheel Block Run Spring Forward Bouncing Spider Salmon Ladder The Clacker Warped Wall / Mega Wall Simply the fact that they're moved away from the typical "six obstacle qualifier" is amazing. This season is really bringing so much good stuff!

The premiere is on right now!!! So far, proving to be a fun show, remaining one of the more consistent spinoffs in Europe. Also, the course is completely off. Heat 1 Course: Archer Steps Swing Jump Spinning Bridge Barrel Roll Bouncing Spider Salmon Ladder Crank It Up Warped Wall/Mega Wall EDIT: Mega Wall rules are ANW10/12 rules

Heat 1 results: {Spoiler}1. Lukas Kilian [Finisher, 02:12.08; Power Tower winner] 2. Alexander Wurm [Finisher, 03:24.14] 3. Giovanni Ertl [Finisher, 03:24.53] 4. Björn Graul [Finisher, 03:50.75] 5. Christian Range [Finisher, 03:58.22] 6. Christian Kirstges [Finisher (Mega Wall), 03:58.41] 7. Max Sprenger [Crank It Up (4th handle), 02:37.98] 8. Siegfried Sperlich [Crank It Up (4th handle), 03:32.91] 9. Marco Layer [Crank It Up (4th handle), 03:47.25] 10. Uwe Weiter [Crank It Up (4th handle), 04:14.72] 11. Christian Krömer [Crank It Up (2nd handle), 02:37.98] 12. Philipp Göthert [Salmon Ladder (2nd rung), 01:47.02] 13. Rene Sperlich [Salmon Ladder (2nd rung), 02:37.32] 14. Niklas Woltman [Salmon Ladder (2nd rung), 02:51.10] 15. Frank Schmidpeter [Salmon Ladder (bar), 03:07.46] 16. Roy Sperlich [Bouncing Spider (pipe), 02:31.69] Q. Rita Benker [Barrel Roll (1st handle), 01:17.43] Q. Hannah Mees [Barrel Roll (1st handle), 01:39.06] Complete results for all 58 competitors can be found here. My thoughts on heat 1: {Spoiler}At first it seems that the Final Stage, which is always shown in the intro, will be outside. Would be an awesome change. I also like the change from two courses per heat to one longer course per heat. To the participants: The 2 meter tall (6'7") Christian Kirstges was the only one who cleared the Mega Wall and is thus the first to clear the Mega Wall for the second time. Then Lukas "Clucky Luke" Kilian was impressive with an insanely fast run. I think in addition to Luke, three other athletes of heat 1 - Giovanni Ertl, Christian Range and Björn Graul - can catch up with the top athletes in this season. The female athletes were unspectacular this time, although I believe that Lea Clausnitzer would have come far without her injury. The biggest upset was Sladjan "Sladi" Djulabic, a three times finalist and a specialist for the Third Stage. He actually failed the Swing Jump because he couldn't swing. That's a real pity. And last but not least: Alexander Wurm. As calm, efficient and flawless as ever. In this season he's the big favourite for me again. And although he isn't the fast runner, he qualified for the Power Tower by setting the second-fastest time. So the first showdown at the Power Tower was Lukas Kilian vs. Alex Wurm. A very close duel, which in the end was won by Lukas Kilian. But for me, the Power Tower remains one of the few changes that I still don't welcome. And nice to hear: With 2.7 million total viewers it was the best season start ever and with 20.0 % demo rating it was the top-rated TV show in Prime Time ( Tweet, Quotenmeter). And on top of this, Ninja Warrior got its own section on a more or less well-known sports website in Germany: sport.de.

I was fortunate enough to meet some of the Ninja Warrior Germany guys at the NNL international qualifier at Dion Trigg's gym. Can 100% confirm how much of a beast Christian Kristges is. He pulled off the Wilczewski salmon ladder move in the comp, cleared it in 1 move. No surprise he went for the mega wall again, he was making Dion's 19 foot one look easy.

I absolutely adore this season. It's so packed, so ambitious... and unlike ANW, didn't use Covid as an excuse to scale things back or completely change the format. Honestly? This is better than ANW's Season 12 IMO.

I completely agree, Global.
Also, I would normally post results, but the site I used to watch the show on crashed halfway through the episode so I missed the 2nd half. I'm on the hunt for a new way to watch so I can share weekly highlights and results, particularly Mega Wall and Power Tower results.
