We haven't seen any news on a 12th tournament yet this year. Could the show be going on a long hiatus again?

Likely cancelled. Ratings for 11 were awful so I wouldn't be surprised if it's buried for a long, long time or if it's gone entirely and only Sasuke remains. Considering Sasuke is struggling with budget and ratings to a certain extent, I'd imagine TBS would just want the focus on Sasuke. Sasuke would have to become insanely popular again for a Kunoichi return to be even considered again, because it's likely losing them money.

It's incredibly difficult to gauge. The revival came during a period when TBS had returned to airing Sasuke twice a year, which was the status quo when Kunoichi was originally on the air. Now Sasuke is back to once a year. It's hard to say whether the reboot really has staying power since it is much more of a Sasuke lite as opposed to original Kunoichi which focused on a different athletic skillset and served quite a different audience. I'm not so sure the rebooted Kunoichi is reaching that same audience. Kunoichi 10 was announced in very quick succession following Kunoichi 9 which leads me to believe there is demand for the show. Of course then Kunoichi 11 went and undid almost all the progress that 9 & 10 had by filming during a time when it's core competitor base was unavailable, and airing during the world cup. I wouldn't be shocked if we got one to two more or nothing at all. I think the jury is still out at least for the moment, but that we'll have a better idea once the next Sasuke has wrapped production.

Call me crazy but I actually liked the format in 8 a lot. But there are things that need to be changed. People who fail before the Tsuritenbou don't deserve a second chance, people who finish but got third or 4th do, extend the Reperchange. And hopefully they don't keep inviting only models and idols to compete.

My guess is that it is cancelled. It is no longer a ratings winner and they are putting whatever money is left of that contract into Sasuke. I'll be surprised if Sasuke is still around after the Olympics. IMO obviously.
